1 More Held from Uttar Pradesh in Sanpada’s Bank Robbery Case

1 more accused held in Sanpada’s bank robbery case from Uttar Pradesh.

There is a recent development in bank heist that took place at Sanpada’s branch of Bank of Baroda. 1 more accused has been detained from Azamgarh district in Uttar Pradesh by the Navi Mumbai’s Crime Branch Unit III team. The team was was investigating the case of Sanpada’s Bank Robbery committed by a gang.




The arrested member of the gang has been identified as Kamlesh, who is a resident of Nalasopara. He lived with the mastermind of the robbery, named Deepak Mishra, whose arrest is yet to be confirmed by the local police.

To everyone’s disbelief, the gang committed the crime in an action movie style. They dug a 40-feet long tunnel leading to the bank from a shop that was rented in the same building. The looted jewellery worth over Rs 3 crore and cash from about 30 lockers, which was placed in bank’s strongroom through the same tunnel that they dug.

Another gang member, Moinuddin Shaikh (38), who is a resident of Wadala was also arrested by the crime branch from Howrah in Kolkata on Monday. Apparently, Shaikh was one of the key conspirator in the bank robbery. Meanwhile, Sanjay Wagh, a jeweler from Malegaon was also held by the police, who allegedly bought the stolen gold jewellery.




As per a police officer, “Police have recovered 1,750gm gold from Wagh. He had melted the jewellery into bars to prevent identification of the stolen ornaments.”

He added, “He has confessed to having bought the gold for Rs 35 lakh; the current market price is around Rs 52 lakh.”
