10 Booked as a Cattle Slaughter Racket Busted

A cattle slaughter racket has been busted, 10 people booked by the police.

A cattle slaughtering racket has been busted by the Raigad police with the assistance of a Mumbai-based NGO. Illegal slaughtering of cows, bullocks, and buffaloes were reported for Cattle slaughter at Apta village near Panvel.

10 people have been booked for this illegal slaughter, while 16 ive cows, buffaloes, and calves have been rescued when the police reached the site.




Bhavin Gathani, an activist of NGO Karuna Parivar stated that, “We had received information about illegal slaughter in Apta, Rassayani. The meat was being sold in Gowandi. So, we approached Raigad SP Anil Paraskar who gave us a special team to raid the site on Wednesday. It was shocking to see how brazenly they were slaughtering the cattle besides a gutter.”

4 suspects have been taken into jail custody on remand by the police where they will be kept until November 14. They have been charged under IPC section 429 and various other sections under the Maharashtra Animal Preservation (Amendment) Act for killing the cattle illegally.
