Gardens and grounds, as always, have been a nurturing podium for kids. Now, budding sporting talents in Navi Mumbai are all set to get a platform where they can give wings to their dreams. ‘How’ you ask? CIDCO or the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd. are determined to bestow Navi Mumbai with grounds and parks.
Development of 10 playgrounds and 2 grounds at Kharghar are already ‘work-in-progress’. With a whopping project cost of Rs 4.44 crore, the playgrounds will comprise of a cricket pitch, basketball ground, skating rink, volley ball court, badminton court and children’s play area.
Kharghar already on the road of prosperity with 3 playgrounds in sectors 12 and 19, sectors 15, 16, 18, and 21 will get one each of its own. Also, with the aim to maintain the green aspect of the area, trees will be planted in the plot. Out of 10 playgrounds, 6 of them will have cricket pitches as well. While plot no. 59A, sector 19 will have a max number of sporting facilities, including basketball ground, children’s play area, skating rink, badminton court, and a volley ball court. Meanwhile, gardens will be constructed in sector 15 and sector 20 of Kharghar.
According to CIDCO executive engineer Girish Raghuwanshi “A sum of Rs 4.44 crore is being spent on the 10 playgrounds and two gardens. The work has already started. These grounds and gardens will be ready by end of 2017. The work is held up due to monsoon and will resume soon.”
“The pitches and courts will be readied. All these grounds will have pathways on its periphery. A single agency is doing all these works,” Raghuwanshi added.
