It’s summer times in Mumbai, which means bracing ourselves for the heatwave and the sweaty and sticky mess that we’re bound to become by the end of a hot summer day. For us people with long hair, our holy saving grace are rubber bands or any tool that can our mane tamed.
One of the most dreadful things to happen during summer is forgetting to carry rubber bands or clips to secure your hair. Even worse, when the realization of that hits in the middle of the day while you’re out and about.
But hey, we’re not about let summer deprive us of good hair days. If you’re someone who’s out of the door in a jiffy, then here some hairstyles to try if you’re sick of tying your hair in that same top knot everyday single day of summer.
Common Hair products that are key to keep your hairstyle in place all day:
- Bobby pins
- Rubber bands (size depends on the length of your hair and hairstyle)
- A good hair gel ( if you don’t have a hair gel, you can use cucumber or aloe vera gel)
- Hairspray (optional)
A braided updo is just a simple bun accentuated with braids. You can use whatever style braid you want. It can be on the center or on the side. If you want a defined looking braid, work with smaller chunks of hair and if you want it thicker and looser, work with bigger pieces of hair. It is best if you secure the braid with a small nylon rubber band so it lasts longer. Along with the braid, take the rest of your hair and secure it in a bigger elastic.
Sleek bun is the perfect hairstyle if you’re someone with really dry and frizzy hair. Run some hair gel through your hair with your fingers. For better results, use cucumber or aloe vera gel instead of hair gel. You’ll achieve two in one: styling and nourishment. Also, it will keep your hair cool under the harsh sun. Middle part or side part your hair and comb it with a thin tooth comb. One you’ve sleeked your hair, gather it up in a bun and secure it with a rubber band and some bobby pins. If you have thicker hair, go for two rubber bands.
Crown braid Updo/ Milkmaid Hairstyle
Crown braid updos are one of the cutest and daintiest hairstyles. You can also make it look effortless by pulling out some strands around your face. For this hairstyle, all you got to do is part your hair in the middle, make two regular pigtails and wrap them around your head with them. The longer the hair the more you’ll have to wrap it around your head. Once that part is done, secure the pigtails on either end with bobby pins. If you want to secure them better, spray your pins with some hairspray and then secure your hair with them.
