You need not believe in god to visit temples. Maybe instead of god, you can find solace in the beautiful silence the ambiance holds. You can also plan to visit a temple during those big poojas and find yourself being washed over by the odd satisfaction of listening to the loud and perfectly synchronized chants of prayers. If beautiful architecture is something that spellbinds you, you can at least give the temple points for that. If at all the guilt of not praying gets to you, you can right it by joining your hands together and praying using layman language rather than those seemingly impossible mantras for the sake of your loved ones (you know I’m talking about parents right?)
Yes, I’m very much aware that it is a universally agreed fact that temples are visited for seeking the blessings of the Almighty. However, it isn’t written anywhere that you can’t visit a temple if you don’t believe in god. So why not add these beautiful temples to your travel list or must-visit list?
God might not be able to arbitrate the constant disputes you have with yourself for making certain life choices or with the universe for picking the “perfect” time to make your life more “perfect”, but maybe a much-needed respite from this endless chaos might. I mean common, regardless of your beliefs, you can’t deny the fact that there’s something soothing in the aura of temples. Orrrr that just might be placebo. But hey, whatever that can briefly deviate from the real life works right?
