Bengalis in Navi Mumbai begin Durga Puja celebrations

NAVI MUMBAI: Durga Puja celebrations are on in full swing from Tuesday in the city. Vashi Cultural Association (VCA) is celebrating their 13th year of celebration at Cidco ground near Vashi railway station.

A huge replica of a Buddhist temple will house Durga idol. The various musical and cultural programmes will include antakshari, Bangla band, dhunuchi dance and more.

Kamothe Bengali Association is celebrating its eight year of Durga Puja.

Bengali Cultural Association marks its 32nd year of puja at NMMC ground in CBD Belapur. at Sector 3A, “This year, puja programmes will include many social initiatives. We will distribute note books, bags to poor children and offer financial help to needy meritorious students,” said Jayanta Bose of the association. To promote rural handicrafts, Seawood Cultural Welfare Association (SWCWA) has invited artisans from various parts of Bengal. They will display the ethnic rural look of the state in their mandap decor zaat the puja held at sector 40, Seawoods, Nerul.

Kharghar Bengali Association, Bongo Sammelani Kharghar, Kalomboli Bengali Association and Milan Tirtha Panvel are also celebrating puja with pomp.
