Very soon, Navi Mumbai will have 1,700 CCTVs installed in 500 identified spots. Belapur’s MLA Mandakini Mhatre has already gotten the proposal passed from the home department. The CCTV project will be funded by both government and MLA funds. Some of the 500 spots identified are schools, gardens, lakes, bus depots, traffic chowks and other important locations of the city.
“I have been pursuing this matter as this is regarding the city’s security. In the wake of an increase in the number of robberies and break-ins in the city having more CCTV has become a necessity,” Mhatre said.
