Almost a week ago, the process on the spot e-chalan commenced with 10 gadgets – an app that generates e-chalan, and that also enables a person to pay the penalty through debit and credit cards.
“We will be soon officially inaugurating the new mode of on the spot challan,” said DCP (Traffic) Nitin Pawar.
Apart from Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, Pune and Nashik have also initiated this new system.
However, the Navi Mumbai police commissioner, under an official sanction has opened an account for the collected penalty. This money will be directly routed to the state treasury.
Not only this app, but ten other apps have been put into service to arrest traffic violators in Belapur. The penalty collected will be deposited to the Belapur traffic unit since it is the central collection point of penalties for all traffic units.
There will be more gadgets and a speed fund that will be distributed to all traffic units. The internal roads will be monitored. All the complaints of traffic violations like speeding over the speed limit, triple loading, DUI, on the internal roads will be registered.
The new of system f e-chalan has proven to be efficient. This has also helped in the increase in the on the spot payments, which will help the traffic units in saving time.
The app has options for violations, so accordingly the unit can penalize the violator. If the payment cannot be done on the spot, the person will be given 10 days to make the payment.
The app is also useful in tracing the background of the offender by showing previous cases of traffic violations, or whether there is any fine pending.
