Harvey Weinstein’ assistant was paid to keep quiet

Several women, including hollywood celebrities, brought forward revelations of being sexually harrassed by hollywood mogul Harvey Weistein . This harrowing news is reason for emergence of the powerful hashtag, #MeeToo.

And now, his forward assistant, Zelda Perkins, too came forward and shared her incident of being sexually harrassed. She reavealed that she was paid $165,200 to keep quiet. According to BBC, she signed a non-disclosure agreement after making accusations.

She said he asked her to give him massages and tried to pull her into bed, but she “was made to feel ashamed for disclosing his behaviour”.

The reason why the former assistant reported allegations is because one her colleagues told her that even she was harrassed by the film producer. Subsequently, they sought the damges and were paid $330,500 that they amongst themselves. They also signed a non-disclosure, forbidding them from discusiing these allegations.

“I want to publicly break my non-disclosure agreement. Unless somebody does this there won’t be a debate about how egregious these agreements are and the amount of duress that victims are put under.” she said.

Breaking the agreement could lead Perkins to pay back the settlement as well as pay for the damages and other legal fees that was part of the contract.
