Navi Mumbai’s upcoming IKEA Store is officially environment approved

The world famous furniture store, IKEA store that’s soon launching in Navi Mumbai finally got environmental approval. The store had applied for the approval 10 months ago, and after 3.5 months after the approval, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis laid the foundation stone for the 4.30-lakh square feet store.

The application process had begun in October- November in 2016. Despite the project being a prestigious one, the approvals took time.

Since the project is more than 20,000 square meters, the application had to be sent to the Maharashtra’s State Environment Impact Assessment Committee (SEIAC). Because of the absence of a chairman at that time, the decision making was delay for almost three-and-a-half months.
in 2013, IKEA received the Central government’s approval to invest Rs. 10,500 crores and open 25 ‘hyper stores’ in the country. Its first outlet will open in Hyderabad in 2018.

the Navi Mumbai store, on which construction began this May, is speculated to open in January, 2019.
