Kharghar residents have been for quite some time complaining about the harassments and rude behavior of auto drivers in the suburb.
“We had a meeting with both the affected autorickshaw unions in the presence of the Kharghar police station officials and the Navi Mumbai traffic police personnel on Wednesday. The auto groups agreed to resolve their differences and called off the strike by today evening,” said Panvel RTO head, L A Darade,
This good news comes as a relief to all the residents who are daily commuters who were caused a great deal trouble due to the illegal strike. This illegal strike that’s now called off happened due to the violent clashes between the Kharghar and Taloja auto drivers over territorial issues.
According to the RTO head, the representative of the auto group wants one major issue to resolved as immediate which is getting people to obey and follow the rules and regulations while picking up passengers from Kharghar station.
“They told us that many auto drivers illegally come to the parking lot of Kharghar station by breaking the legitimate queue. We assured them that we will urge the police to act against any such errant drivers,” said Darade.
Activist Ravi Shrivastava was pleased to hear about the resolve. ” However, not many autos seen on the roads on Wednesday evening. Perhaps the services will be fully regularized by night,” he said.
He also said that the RTO officials must also allow app based taxis and rickshaw to make commuting for residents more convenient and hassle free and they don’t have to depend only on auto rickshawas
