Luxury Buses Fined for Illegitimate Halt at Vashi

56 luxury buses fined by Vashi traffic police for illegal halt in the city.

In its surprise drive against private luxury buses on Monday night, Vashi traffic police fined 56 buses fined for Illegitimate Halt under Vashi flyover on Sion-Panvel highway.

Satish Gaikwad, the senior inspector of Vashi traffic unit said, “In the 6-hour drive, action was taken against 56 buses halting at Vashi to pick up passengers travelling to Pune, Goa, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.”



The drivers of the 56 luxury buses were fined for illegally halting along Sion-Panvel highway towards Panvel that blocked the way for other vehicles. The buses were parked haphazardly, which hampered the busy traffic on MSRTC.

“We have recovered a penalty of Rs 62,000 from the 56 bus owners after booking them under the Motor Vehicles Act,” Gaikwad added.

Usually, these buses take a halt at Vashi to pick up passenger’s travel agencies. These travel agencies ask people to wait for their buses to arrive on the highway. The drivers continued to flout the traffic rules despite the repeated warning from the traffic department. However, this time, the traffic cops conducted a surprise drive to catch them red handed.
