Who would have thought one could get forcibly kisses in broad daylight on a packed local station platform? Certainly, not the young girl who was waiting on the platform of Turbhe station.
On Thursday, a young girl walked over to Turbhe station to board her train to Ghansoli for work, when she was suddenly molested by a 43-year-old man who casually walked up to her, and forcibly kissed her.
Are girls really Safe?
The entire act, caught on CCTV camera, instantly got the attention it deserved and the railway police force (RPF) sprung into action. The RPF team accosted the man in question when they found him loitering around the station and took the victim along for filing a report.
The accused was later identified as Naresh Joshi and a case of sexual harassment was filed against him.
“We have registered a case under IPC section 354 (A) (sexual harassment) and are investigating the matter”, said Krishna Kadam, an inspector from Vashi to Mumbai Mirror.
This case comes in the light of numerous other instances of sexual harassment against women in the city. Is Navi Mumbai, let alone Mumbai as safe as we once thought it to be? Until we have a definite answer to that, we will have to be vigilant always and report incidents that we come across.
