Navi Mumbai Trade rains on Taloja Manufacturers’ parade

Hmmmm….Is this some kind of revenge by the universe on Taloja for the pollution they caused? The universe in the form of Navi Mumbai trade? The manufacturers of Taloja Manufacturers Association were about to take part in a peace march on Thursday. It was an act of protest against the alleged harassment by politicians. The march, however, was canceled as Maharashtra Minster, Devendra Fadnavis promised to address the issue.

The CM will soon be meeting the entrepreneurs so that all the issues can be brought forward and resolved. Some problems that the manufacturers wish to address are harassment by politicians, a need for a hospital, and waiving off LBT due to lack of infrastructure.

The march was going to start from Taloja MIDC and end at the Konkan divisional commissioner office in Belapur.

At least 46 industry units wanted to shift their base due to increasing amount of harassments by politicians and other agencies.

“We got a call from the CM’s office asking us to cancel the march and sit across the table for a discussion. A meeting has been convened by Praveen Pardeshi, principal secretary to chief minister, on November 27,” said Shyamshundar Karun, a member of TMA.

“For years we had no hurdles in running the business, but now we have been suffering due to the blackmailing tactics adopted by politicians, including PCMC corporators. They enter our premises forcibly to see if we manufacture polluting goods without any knowledge. They have been demanding for labor contracts,” said Jayshree Katkar, secretary of TMA.
