After considering the many complaints of being banned from the football ground that was developed by NMMC for the Under-17 FIFA World Cup which is worth Rs. 4 crores, the city municipal finally has started working towards making a cricket ground on a part of Nerul’s Yashwantrao Chavan Maidan. Finally, the love for all things sports finally came through for Navi Mumbaikars.
Though the NMMC has begun ground leveling work for the ground has begun and will be done in one week’s time, residents are not happy because the football ground has taken up most of the space, resulting in the availability of only a narrow stretch for cricket and other outdoor games.
Here’s what a local had to say about the ground: “We are not happy with the consolation deal meted out by the civic body. We should be allowed to play cricket inside the football ground as the remaining patch is too narrow,”
