You read right! Travelling via railways is going to be made a little easier because Navi Mumbai is about to get another station that’s going to be set up between Airoli and Thane. This station will fall on the trans-harbor Thane-Vashi line. The station will be named Dighe.
Dighe will be the 77th station on the CR’s suburban and 114th on Mumbai’s. According to the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation, the cost of setting up the station is Rs.107.2 crores.
Just within a year, Mumbai will be studded with new railway station that is believed to be swanky, pre-engineered building a with a steel roof, a subway, and circulating area. The upcoming station will also include a new rail between Airoli and Kalwa.
Dighe is one of the two planned upcoming railway stations. While this one is set up for the Thane-Vashi line, the other one, Bankode will be set up between Koparkhairane and Turbhe.
It is said that the new station will help the residents of Digha village to travel easier. Dighe will have 4 platforms and a subway that’ll be closer to the Airoli knowledge Park.
Here’s what a local resident had to say about the upcoming station “We have been waiting for developments for quite sometime, and it is indeed good news that the railways have finally begun the process. The new station will be a boon as the crowd at existing stations along the line has been going up. The railways should also increase services along the stretch now,”
