NMMT boards in Vashi to get color coded for easy commute

The commuters of Navi Mumbai can now commute easy. NMMT, along with civic transport wing has decided to make all the boards of the Vashi bus depot color coded. The boards will also have bus numbers and routes to help the commuters furthermore.

The depot has 12 bus routes because of which commuters find it confusing and difficult when it comes to locating the correct bus stop. This problem was voiced several times before.

A civic transport wing official said “For someone new to Vashi, locating the correct bus at the Vashi depot is nothing less than a challenge. With 12 routes operating from this depot itself, it was necessary to have a proper information system that will help commuters to easily locate the exact bus stop for their destination.”

With the implementation of this new project, commuters will soon only have to read the board for route details and the number allotted to them which will be the same as the bus stop.

“Four colors codes —red, yellow, green and orange have been used to facilitate commuters who cannot read so once the numbers and routes are clear, the commuters need to locate the bus stop of the same color. It is a pilot project and if the commuters find it helpful, we will implement it in other depots too,” said the official.
