- Maine Pyar Kiya (1989)
A debut movie for both the actor (Salman Khan) and the director (Sooraj Barjatya), Maine Pyar Kiya is considered as one of the top 10 most successful films of all times in India. Contrary to his current ‘Dabang’ image, Salman Khan was introduced to audience as their ‘ideal’ boy as ‘Prem’ in this flick. His character got so successful, that it led him sign a series of movies in which he played characters named ‘Prem’.
The boyish charm of Salman and the soundtrack turned out to be the major driving force in this film becoming a mega blockbuster.
- Andaz Apna Apna (1994)
It’s hard to believe that such a classic comedy movie performed average at the box office. Despite that, the brilliant comic timing of both Salman Khan and Amir Khan was unmatchable. The audience saw a different side of the usual romantic ‘Prem’ in Salman Khan for the very first time and the movie attained a cult like status, leaving everyone in splits with its rib tickling comedy.
- Hum Aapke Hai Kaun (1994)
Right after Andaz Apna Apna, Salman Khan was seen in an ideal ‘dewar’ role in a National Award-winning flick called Hum Apke Hai Kaun. The movie broke records and turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Bollywood. Gyrating moves on ‘Joote Do Paise Lo’ or Thumkas on ‘Di Di Tera Devar Deewana’ with his amazing co-star Madhuri Dixit, made the music of the film spellbinding to watch and hear. - Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998)
Apart from winning a Filmfare Award for the Best Actor for his role in Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Salman brought a trend of being in shape. - Dabangg (2010)
Audience went bananas when they saw the new avatar of Salman as ‘Chulbul Pandey’ playing the role of a Dabang cop in Dabangg. The days of ‘Prem’ had become the thing of the past now and ‘Pandey’ rolled the game with his iconic moustache, Kala Chasma hanging at the back of his collar and unique belt shaking dance move. - Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2014)
A long journey from ‘Prem’ to ‘Radhe Mohan’ to ‘Dabang’ to ‘Tiger’, Salman’s on-screen characters became known as his own personality in real life. This time Bhai became the Jaan of so many after he emotionally connected with the audience in Bajrangi Bhaijaan by showcasing his heartfelt relationship with the angelic Munni played by Harshali Malhotra.
