Navi Mumbai: The civic body is busy making parking and other arrangements for the Under 17 FIFA World Cup matches in the city. Navi Mumbai will host eight matches including a semi final on October 25.
Apart from making parkig arrangements for close to 3,000 vehicles at designated plots and city malls (see box), NMMT will also operate buses from the ground and parking slots to Tulsi maidan which lies behind the stadium. Bikes will also be part of the parking arrangement.
Two plots near Uran Phata, both walking distance from the stadium, will have parking facilities of 300 each.
Of them 300 will be reserved for VIPs and VVIPs who will be dropped at the stadium.
Six ACP rank officers have been deputed and designated as secretary, liasoning officers for the six teams.
A 35-member Turkey team checked in early on Tuesday morning, ahead of schedule. The arrival date for four of the six teams was pegged on October 2, according to an officer.
DCP (Traffic), Nitin Pawar said, “Our jurisdiction starts from Vashi toll plaza. Two motorcycle pilots will escort the buses of the various teams. The route will be Palm Beach Road to the stadium and traffic police deployment will be made at the junctions.”
The six teams will stay in two star hotels in the city. One of them is located behind the mall close to the Vashi railway station and the other is on the Vashi stretch of Palm Beach Road.
