The construction of the new Vashi deputy RTO’s administrative building along with a ground for vehicle brake testing near Wonder Park in Nerul hasn’t been very well received by various quarters.
Though, Sanjay Dole, Vashi deputy RTO has claimed that the upcoming facility won’t cause any kind of inconveniences to the locals of the suburb.
He said “We have informed the Nerul corporator Ravindra Ithape that the construction work at the Nerul plot is being carried out legally. If they want to protest in a democratic manner then we have no objection. But if they plan to create trouble by obstructing the construction work at the plot allotted to Vashi deputy RTO office or by threatening the workers, we will be compelled to lodge a police complaint.”
Despite the assurance, Nerul corporator Ravindra Ithape believes that ground made for vehicle fitness test will ne nuisance to residents. Not only this but also a group of locals protested and tried to stop the construction work.
Dole said “The claims that the RTO office in the residential area will be a nuisance for the locals is illogical. Only specific number of vehicles will be visiting the vehicle brake testing track at the ground by prior appointments.”
The RTO, according to the availability of RTO staff, will be appointing only 40 auto rickshaws, 40 semi-taxis, T-permits vans, and 22 heavy vehicles per day.
As per the availability of RTO staff, the RTO will be giving appointment to only 40 auto rickshaws, 40 semi-taxis, and T-permit vans, 22 heavy vehicles per day, he added.
Dole even added “Such a small number of vehicles visiting the RTO ground will not create any chaos in the vicinity. Also, there is a wide road near the RTO land, which heads towards Uran and at least 10 heavy vehicles can simultaneously cross the stretch of road within five minutes,”
Dole strongly feels that protesting for a public facility is futile. There must be workable way out of this situation.
