Driving Schools in Navi Mumbai: Local Options and Enrolment Guide

Transport & Commute

This guide is for anyone in Navi Mumbai choosing a driving school for car lessons. It compares the schools that publish their own branch details, shows the fees they publish, explains what a course duration does and does not tell you, and then covers how a school fits with the licence process and what accreditation means.

Details checked on 18 October 2026 from the schools’ own websites, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and public directory listings. This is desk research, and none of the schools listed has been independently verified as an accredited driver training centre. Fees, schedules and rules change, so confirm them with the school and the RTO before you enrol.

School profiles

Maruti Suzuki Driving School, Vashi (My Car Pvt Ltd)

The branch’s own website identifies the operator as My Car Pvt Ltd, a Maruti Suzuki dealer, and gives the address as Shops 5, 6 and 7, Palm Beach Galleria, Sector 19, Palm Beach Road, Vashi. Its directions link points to Sector 19D, so confirm the entrance when you call. It lists four car courses, which match the network’s national courses page:

Course Duration on the page Total hours shown Starting fee, excluding GST
Learner Standard Track 21 days 21 5,500 rupees
Learner Extended Track 26 days 26 7,500 rupees
Learner Detailed Track 31 days 31 9,000 rupees
Advance Course 8 days 8.5 4,000 rupees

The page says prices can vary from city to city and exclude 18 per cent GST. It describes theory, simulator and on-road sessions and says the Advance Course is for people who already hold a licence but feel under-confident driving alone. It does not state the number of on-road hours, whether you can choose a manual or automatic car, or the charge for licence assistance. The network’s national site lists optional add-ons without consistent prices, so ask the branch what each costs.

Confirm before paying: the final fee including GST, the number of on-road sessions and their length, the car type, and the licence assistance charge.

Pravasi Motor Training School, Nerul

The school’s website gives the Nerul address as Plot 53A, Shop 4, Sector 6, opposite Sarsole Depot, Nerul 400706, and says it has been operating since 1995 with branches at Seawoods and Sanpada. It lists three phone numbers without saying which serves which branch. It describes itself as government recognised and lists all RTO related services. That is the school’s own claim, and it does not show accreditation as an ADTC or Form 5B eligibility. The site says a driving test is held every Thursday at RTO Vashi, and it publishes no course lengths, fees or vehicle details.

Confirm before paying: the courses, fees and number of lessons, the vehicles, the Seawoods and Sanpada addresses, and what “government recognised” refers to.

Independently listed schools with similar names

Directory listings also show schools named Maruti Motor Driving School in Nerul (Plot D 229, TTC Industrial Area, per a Sulekha listing) and Kharghar (Shop 7, Gayatri Heritage, Plot 37, Giriraj Road, Sector 20, per a Justdial listing). A shared word in a business name does not show that a school belongs to the Maruti Suzuki network, so do not assume that the courses, simulators or fees above apply to them. Ask each school who operates it. CarDekho and similar directories list many more schools without saying whether they are accredited or what they charge.

Fees and what is included

A course’s advertised duration is not a promise of licence issuance within that period. For the usual driving test route, the learner’s licence waiting period, appointment availability and passing the test also matter. Compare schools on these points, not only on the headline fee:

Component What to establish
Course duration Calendar days compared with total instructional hours. Total hours are not on-road driving hours
Practical lessons The actual time behind the wheel, and the length of each session
Theory and simulator Whether they are included in the stated total
Vehicle Manual or automatic, and the models available
Licence assistance Exactly what service is supplied, and its separate charge
Government fees Whether they are included or paid separately
Extra lessons The price and length of an extra session
Pickup and drop Whether it is offered, the area covered and any extra charge
Cancellation Written rescheduling and refund terms

Manual, automatic and refresher courses

Ask each school which car types it trains on, since many learners want an automatic. The Maruti Suzuki Advance Course is described as a course for people who already hold a licence and want more confidence, with 8 days and 8.5 total hours listed. Other schools may offer refresher lessons by the hour, so ask for the price and the session length. Some people prefer an instructor of a particular gender. None of the school sites above publishes a policy on instructor requests, so ask when you enquire.

Questions to ask before you enrol

  • Are you an accredited driver training centre? Which certificate do I receive, Form 5 or Form 5B?
  • How many days and how many hours of driving will I get, and how long is each session?
  • Is the car dual controlled? Can I see the car and the instructor’s details?
  • Is the training on a closed track, on the road or both? Is a simulator used?
  • Can I choose a manual or an automatic car?
  • What is the total fee, including GST, the learner licence help and the test day? Is anything charged extra?
  • What happens if I miss a lesson or need extra practice?
  • What is the refund or cancellation policy, in writing?
  • Do you teach the road rules and the learner licence theory test?
  • Do you provide pickup, or can I train near my home?

Licence process and accreditation

A school teaches you to drive. The licence itself is issued by the licensing authority. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ clarification of 1 June 2024 explains the difference between two kinds of school:

Type of school Certificate Effect on the driving test
Accredited Driver Training Centre (ADTC) Form 5B on successful completion of its course The holder is exempt from the RTO driving test. The rules for these centres, Rules 31B to 31J of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, took effect on 1 July 2021. They were not a new change in 2024
Other driving schools set up under Rule 24 Form 5 on completing its course Does not exempt you from the driving test

The clarification also says the power to issue a driving licence stays with the licensing authority, and that accreditation is granted by the State Transport Authority or a notified agency. An ordinary licensed driving school can still teach you well, and not being an ADTC does not make a school unsuitable. If a school says it can exempt you from the test, ask to see the accreditation document, the authority that issued it, its validity and the vehicle class it covers, and confirm with the RTO. The Tribune reported in 2021 that ADTCs are equipped with simulators and a dedicated test track. No school listed here has been verified as an ADTC, and published sources name no accredited centre for Navi Mumbai.

Learner’s licence timeline

You need a learner’s licence before you practise on the road. Under the licensing rules a learner’s licence is valid for six months, and you can apply for a permanent licence after 30 days, so a 21 day course does not by itself let you take the test. Applications start on the Parivahan portal. See our RTO Navi Mumbai guide for the application steps and our driving licence renewal guide for renewal.

Which RTO

Navi Mumbai area applicants may need to deal with RTO Vashi (MH-43) or RTO Panvel (MH-46), depending on the applicable jurisdiction. Confirm the appropriate office for your address through the official application process or the Maharashtra Transport Department regional offices page.

Skills to ask about in Navi Mumbai traffic

Ask whether the course teaches these skills, and how much time goes to each:

  • Observation at junctions and lane changes.
  • Reversing and parking.
  • Hill starts, where your routes need them.
  • Pedestrian awareness.
  • Driving in stop and start traffic.
  • Progressing from basic car control to busier roads.

Are licence fees included in the course fee?

The schools’ own pages do not say. Ask the school whether government fees and licence assistance are included or charged separately.

How much practical driving is included?

The Vashi page shows total course hours of 21, 26, 31 and 8.5, which include theory and simulator sessions, and does not give on-road hours. Ask each school for the number and length of on-road sessions.

The Maruti Suzuki Advance Course, 8 days and 8.5 total hours, is described as a course for people who already hold a licence. Ask other schools about refresher lessons and their price.
