Kashid Beach is a long stretch of coast beyond Alibaug in Murud taluka, Raigad district, and a popular weekend beach. From Navi Mumbai it is a long drive, so the first decision is how you will get there and whether to make it a day trip or an overnight stay. This guide covers the road route, the ferry option in brief, public transport, the best season, what to check about parking and facilities, water sports and safety, and how Kashid compares with Nagaon. For the ferry and road choices to reach Alibaug itself, see the Navi Mumbai to Alibaug guide, which this guide does not repeat.
Beach activities, parking and stays change by season. The details below come from the Maharashtra Tourism page for Kashid and the sources named at the end, so confirm them before you pay. This guide is independent and is not run by any resort or authority.

Getting there by road
The routing data for the Panvel to Kashid route follows the Mumbai-Goa highway (NH66) from Panvel, then NH166A towards Alibaug. It does not go into Alibaug town. It leaves the Alibaug road onto the Revdanda road (SH90) and then continues on MSH4 to Kashid. Check this against a live map on the day, because the road numbers and junctions can change with works.
- Reach Panvel and join NH66.
- Take NH166A towards Alibaug.
- Turn off for Revdanda on SH90, which bypasses Alibaug town.
- Continue on MSH4 along the coast to Kashid.
A second option is to go via Alibaug town if you want to stop there first. It is a longer way round for Kashid, but it suits a combined trip with the Navi Mumbai to Alibaug guide. Distances below are road estimates from each railway station to the beach point on the map, from OpenStreetMap data and the OSRM routing service checked on 22 October 2026. They are distances and not driving times, and weekend traffic varies a lot.
| Starting point | Road distance to Kashid Beach |
|---|---|
| Panvel railway station | About 90 km (route) |
| CBD Belapur railway station | About 98 km (route) |
| Kharghar railway station | About 100 km (route) |
| Vashi railway station | About 105 km (route) |
Drivers can read the Navi Mumbai toll plazas guide. The beach point on the map is approximate, so use the beach signage and ask your stay for its access point.
The ferry option
A ferry trip still needs onward road travel from Mandwa to Kashid. Passenger services and vehicle-carrying services are different: the vehicle-carrying M2M ferry (m2mferries.com) runs from Ferry Wharf (Bhaucha Dhakka) in Mumbai to Mandwa, and it should not be confused with the Gateway of India passenger ferry. Compare the complete journey from your Navi Mumbai starting point before you choose this option. Schedules and booking details are in the Navi Mumbai to Alibaug guide.
Public transport
Reach Panvel by train where it suits your starting point, then use a verified onward road connection. For a journey through Alibaug, check the bus connection towards Kashid or Murud and arrange the final beach access. Before you rely on a bus, find out the boarding point, the service destination, whether it stops at Kashid, the distance from the stop to the beach and the return options. See the Panvel railway station guide for the Panvel base.
Best time to visit
| Season | Planning consideration |
|---|---|
| October to March | Commonly recommended for outdoor comfort, according to Maharashtra Tourism. It is seasonal guidance and not a guarantee of safe sea conditions or of activities running. |
| Hotter months | Plan shade, water and breaks in the middle of the day. |
| Monsoon | Check the weather, local access restrictions and whether activities are running. The sea can be rough. |
For sea conditions, check high wave and swell alerts from INCOIS and the local forecast before you travel.
Day trip or overnight?
| Decision | Day trip | Overnight |
|---|---|---|
| Main advantage | No accommodation expense | More flexible beach time |
| Main trade-off | The outward and return journey happen on one day | Accommodation and extra meal costs |
| Planning priority | An early departure and a realistic return plan | Check-in time, beach access and parking |
| Other costs | Fuel, tolls, food and any activities | The same, plus the stay |
An overnight stay splits the return journey across two days, but it does not necessarily reduce the total driving. A simple day plan is to travel, spend time on the beach, break for lunch and rest, and start back early. An overnight plan adds a second beach visit the next morning.
What to do
Kashid is a place for beach walks, a relaxed stay and the coastal setting, with water sports as an optional extra. For an overnight itinerary, Maharashtra Tourism lists Korlai and Phansad as nearby attractions. Check access to each separately, and do not pack several attractions into a day trip.
Parking and facilities
| Detail | What to find out |
|---|---|
| Public parking | The location, whether vehicles can reach the beach and the charge. Resort parking is for resort guests and not for day visitors. |
| Beach approach | The walking distance and the surface. |
| Toilets | The location and whether they are paid. |
| Changing facilities | Availability and opening conditions. |
| Food | The options near your access point. |
| Accessibility | Steps, uneven surfaces and the distance across the sand. |
Ask your accommodation about these before you travel, since they vary by season and by access point.
Water sports and swimming safety
The state tourism page lists activities such as jet skiing, parasailing and boat rides. Treat them as advertised activities and not as daily guarantees. Before you pay, check that life jackets are properly fitted, that the operator has the required permissions and whether age or health restrictions apply, and agree the price, the ride length and what is included.
Follow local restrictions, warning flags and lifeguard instructions. Do not assume that calm-looking or shallow water is safe, because hazardous currents can be hard to spot (see the NOAA rip current guidance). Keep children closely supervised near the shoreline, and avoid the sea when it is rough, especially in the monsoon.
Kashid or Nagaon?
Compare the total drive from your starting point, where you prefer to stay and the activities available on your travel dates. Kashid can work well for a stay focused on beach time, and Nagaon may suit an itinerary centred on Alibaug. That is editorial advice and not a ranking. The Nagaon Beach guide covers the other beach, and the weekend getaways guide has more weekend options.
