Explore Nerul, Seawoods and CBD Belapur through selected parks, temple visits, shopping and dining stops. This guide separates established visitor destinations from hill, fort and wetland locations where current access has not been confirmed, and helps you combine stops around the suburban railway.
Nerul, Seawoods and CBD Belapur are neighbouring areas of Navi Mumbai connected by suburban rail. For a short outing, start with Wonders Park, Sri Balaji Mandir and Nexus Seawoods, and confirm each one’s current hours first. For the wider city, see what is Navi Mumbai and the areas in Navi Mumbai guide.

Wonders Park, Nerul
Wonders Park is in Sector 19A, Nerul. Free Press Journal reported on 13 June 2023 that the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) owns the park and that it reopened on 1 June 2023 after renovation. Newsband (29 December 2023) says the Nerul Division of NMMC oversees its operations.
At the reopening, Curly Tales (31 May 2023) described miniatures of the seven wonders of the world, rides, musical fountains, laser shows and renovated ponds. Charges listed online differ, so this guide prints no prices.
Before you go, confirm these with NMMC:
- Session timings and the weekly closure day.
- The admission charge.
- Ride charges, and any age or height restrictions on rides.
- Whether shows and fountains are running on your date.
- Parking arrangements, if you are driving.
NMMC’s website is nmmc.gov.in, and its official WhatsApp channel lists the toll-free helplines 1800 222 309 and 1800 222 310. These are general civic helplines, so ask for the Nerul Division. The parks and gardens guide covers Wonders Park alongside other parks.
Sri Balaji Mandir, Nerul West
Sri Balaji Mandir stands at Plot 2 and 3, Sector 22, Nerul West. The Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha Sabha is associated with it, and a 2000 donation appeal on ramanuja.org names the Sabha as the payee for a shrine at the Nerul Balaji temple.
The temple’s official site is balajimandirnerul.org. Check the current darshan schedule there, or through the contact details it lists, before you travel. Timings are not printed here because the temple sets and changes them.
Festival days can bring different arrangements, queues and traffic, so check the temple’s announcements for your date rather than relying on the normal schedule. Ask the temple directly about parking, wheelchair access and photography rules. For other places of worship, see the temples, churches and mosques guide.
Nexus Seawoods
Nexus Seawoods is the mall beside Seawoods-Darave station. Nexus Select Trust’s valuation report dated 13 May 2025 gives its address as Plot No. R1, Sector 40, at Nerul Node, Nerul, Navi Mumbai. CIDCO’s nodal plan index lists Nerul and Belapur among its 13 nodes and does not list Seawoods as a separate node, so Seawoods is best read as an area name.
Seawoods Grand Central is the name L&T Realty uses on its project page for the wider development of about 40 acres, which combines offices, retail and residences and is described as integrated with the railway station. Many people still use that name for the mall. For the station, Wikipedia’s page for Seawoods-Darave station lists the Harbour, Trans-Harbour and Port lines and says the station complex was redeveloped with the mall.
The Nexus property page does not publish visitor hours or parking arrangements. Check the mall’s current visitor information before travelling. Shops and restaurants keep their own hours, and the cinema is best checked through current cinema listings. For food, see the cafes and coffee shops guide and the restaurants guide.
Jewel of Navi Mumbai
Jewel of Navi Mumbai is a walking destination in Nerul, with a path around a lake. A Tripadvisor listing places it beside Palm Beach Road. Curly Tales reported in May 2022 that an NMMC flamingo sculpture made from scrap metal stands near the lake.
Treat it as a walk, not as a guaranteed bird stop. Live flamingo sightings vary by season and are never assured. Check current access and timings with NMMC, and use a current map to pick the entrance you want. Do not assume facilities, parking or a fixed walking distance from the station. The parks and gardens guide also covers it.
Belapur Fort, Parsik Hill and the Nerul wetlands: access first
These three are well known by name, but none is presented here as a ready visitor stop.
Belapur Fort
Belapur Fort is a hill fort in CBD Belapur. CIDCO’s conservation and beautification page (in Marathi) describes a history extending to the sixteenth century, says only remains survive of a fort that once had five bastions and strong walls, and outlines a CIDCO project to conserve it and develop it for visitors, with facilities listed as plans. The page covers the restoration context. It gives no opening dates or visiting hours.
Current public visiting arrangements are not confirmed; check with CIDCO before going. CIDCO’s contact page lists its head office at CIDCO Bhavan, CBD Belapur. The fort is not part of the suggested combinations below.
Parsik Hill
Parsik Hill refers to a wider landscape as well as locations around CBD Belapur. Wikipedia describes the range as crossing parts of Thane and Navi Mumbai, with about 15 sq km of reserved forest. Separately, Free Press Journal reported on 20 May 2026 that a proposal to classify about 100 hectares of the hill, which it describes as under CIDCO’s control, as forest land was still being processed. That report does not discuss visitor access.
No specific public walking route or its current access conditions are confirmed here, so the itinerary does not include a hill walk.
A Free Press Journal report updated on 21 July 2026 says police and the Forest Department had prohibited entry to waterfalls and hilly areas at several places, and Belapur is among those it lists. A report mentioning restrictions in the Belapur area does not establish that a particular Parsik Hill route is currently prohibited. Confirm the precise location and current directions with CIDCO, the Forest Department or the Navi Mumbai Police before planning access, and obey every barrier and sign. Do not follow a trail because of a social media post.
Nerul wetlands and flamingos
No designated public viewing point or visitor-access arrangement for the Nerul wetlands is confirmed. Do not enter restricted land, private premises or wetland margins to look for birds.
The best-known Nerul wetland is DPS Lake near Delhi Public School, Seawoods. Newsband reported on 17 April 2025 that the State Board of Wild Life had decided to make it a flamingo conservation reserve. A Free Press Journal report updated on 28 August 2026 said the final government resolution was awaiting clearance from the Chief Minister’s office. Check the Forest Department for the latest status. An official enquiry option for flamingo viewing is the Mangrove Cell’s Airoli centre, described below.
How to reach Nerul, Seawoods and Belapur
Nerul, Seawoods-Darave and CBD Belapur are consecutive stops on the Harbour line, in that order from Vashi towards Panvel, per Wikipedia’s Harbour line page. The Trans-Harbour line page lists the same three stations on the Thane to Panvel route. Check your train’s destination and stopping pattern before boarding. The Mumbai local train guide explains the lines and where to check current services.
A station gets you to the area, not to a gate. Plan the onward leg to the entrance you want by walking, bus or auto, and do not assume every stop is walkable from the station. Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 starts at Belapur Terminal and runs to Pendhar. The Metro route map guide says no Navi Mumbai Metro station operates at Nerul or Seawoods, and the Metro fare guide covers fares.
Suggested combinations for a half day
These are suggested combinations of established visitor destinations. Confirm current opening arrangements before travelling.
- Morning option: Wonders Park once you have confirmed its session timings, then Sri Balaji Mandir if the temple’s schedule suits. Nerul and Seawoods-Darave are consecutive stations, so you can take a train on to Seawoods for lunch at Nexus Seawoods or another stop from the restaurants guide. Plan the onward leg from each station separately.
- Evening option: a walk at Jewel of Navi Mumbai if access suits, then Nexus Seawoods for shopping, a meal or a film, after checking the mall’s visitor information and current cinema listings.
- Birdwatching: a separate outing to Airoli. See the box below.
- Left out: Belapur Fort, Parsik Hill and the Nerul wetland edges, until the responsible authorities confirm visitor access. No Belapur stop is forced into the plan.
Before you set out:
- Check your return transport, especially for an evening plan.
- Check the weather, and skip outdoor stops in heavy rain.
- Ask each venue directly about step-free access and toilets. This guide does not assume either.
- Ask whether a park or ride counter takes cards or UPI.
For more outings, see places to visit in Kharghar, things to do in Navi Mumbai, free things to do in Navi Mumbai and weekend getaways from Navi Mumbai.
For a dedicated birdwatching trip: Airoli
Airoli is a separate node, not part of Nerul, Seawoods or Belapur. The Maharashtra Mangrove Cell’s page for the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary says flamingos arrive in thousands in October and November, mentions a flamingo boat ride, and gives +91 99876 73737. The Mangrove Cell publishes this number for centre visits and boat-safari enquiries. Confirm current operating dates, availability, charges and booking instructions.
The page for the Coastal and Marine Biodiversity Centre, Airoli describes exhibits, a small theatre and a documentary, and lists the centre’s own admission charges. Those are separate from boat-safari charges, which neither page gives. The October and November arrival months describe the birds, not the boat schedule, and neither page lists opening hours.
