Panvel is the last station on Central Railway’s Harbour line from Mumbai CSMT and on the Trans-Harbour line from Thane. It is also the Navi Mumbai station that appears in long-distance and Konkan Railway notices. The station sits in Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) territory in Raigad district. This guide covers the lines, the timetables, getting there, parking and facilities.
Quick answer: Central Railway’s station list gives Panvel the code PNVL. Its Harbour and Trans-Harbour timetables end at Panvel, and the station before it on both is Khandeshwar. Its Port Line timetable, for Nerul and Belapur to Uran, has no Panvel column. Konkan Railway’s 27 September 2026 notice lists Panvel as a halt for special trains to Madgaon and Thiruvananthapuram. Confirm running trains on National Train Enquiry System before you leave.

Central Railway’s timetable page, marked last reviewed on 14 August 2026, showed the Harbour line effective 1 May 2026, the Trans-Harbour line effective 13 January 2024 and the Port Line effective 15 December 2025.
Where the station sits and who looks after the area
The railway is Central Railway’s, but the town around it is PMC’s. PMC’s History page says the corporation came into existence on 1 October 2016 and that the older Panvel Municipal Council was formed on 25 August 1852. PMC’s development plan lists the area near the bus and railway station among Old Panvel’s busiest pedestrian spots, along with Bhaji Market Circle. For the town, New Panvel and the taluka, see the Panvel area guide.
CIDCO’s railway page (in Marathi) says the Mankhurd to Belapur to Panvel line was connected up to Panvel on 29 June 1998 and that the single-track traffic between CSMT and Panvel was doubled from April 2000.
PMC lists four ward offices: A Kharghar, B Kalamboli, C Kamothe and D Panvel. The stations before Panvel serve neighbouring PMC areas. Khandeshwar and Mansarovar serve Kamothe, and Kharghar station is in Kharghar. See the Kamothe area guide and Kharghar area guide. Kalamboli and Taloja are on a different railway route that reaches Panvel, which the Kalamboli area guide and Taloja area guide explain. A property tax bill identifies the billing authority, and the Panvel property tax guide covers PMC’s portal.
Lines and trains at Panvel
The Harbour line
Central Railway’s Harbour timetable files are titled Mumbai CSMT-Goregaon-Panvel (down) and Panvel-Goregaon-Mumbai CSMT (up). The down file lists these stations in order: Vashi, Sanpada, Juinagar, Nerul, Seawoods Darave Karave, Belapur CBD, Kharghar, Mansarovar, Khandeshwar and Panvel. Both files are the down and up PDFs on the timetable page. A separate Harbour AC timetable, also effective 1 May 2026, shows Panvel times for its AC services.
Central Railway’s abbreviations sheet names the train types that carry Panvel in their name: Panvel Local, Panvel-Goregaon, Panvel-Vadala, Thane-Panvel, Vashi-Panvel and Belapur-Panvel. Not every Harbour train goes to Panvel, so read the destination on the indicator. The Mumbai local train guide explains the split at Wadala Road and the Goregaon trains.
Panvel is a starting station, and Central Railway’s timetable page carries this note: suburban trains may leave up to 3 minutes before schedule at en-route stations, but at the originating station a train leaves only at its scheduled departure time.
The Trans-Harbour line from Thane
The Trans-Harbour timetable is headed Thane to Vashi/Panvel and Vashi/Panvel to Thane, effective 13 January 2024. In it, only trains coded TPL (Thane-Panvel) show a Panvel time. Trains coded TV (Thane-Vashi) and TNU (Thane-Nerul) do not. These trains come from Thane through Turbhe, Juinagar, Nerul and Belapur CBD and do not pass Vashi. Check the page for a newer edition.
The Port Line and the road to Uran
Central Railway’s press release of 29 December 2025 describes the suburban network as CSMT to Panvel and Bandra on the Harbour line, Thane to Panvel on the Trans-Harbour line and Nerul/Belapur to Uran on the Port Line. The Port Line timetable lists Nerul and Belapur, then Targhar, Bamandongri, Kharkopar, Gavhan, Shematikhar, Nhave Sheva, Dronagiri and Uran, with no Panvel row. A rail journey from Panvel to Uran therefore means reaching Belapur first. CIDCO’s railway page lists a Panvel to Uran route as proposed, which is a plan and not a service.
Diva, Roha and the Konkan side
A 2019 Central Railway release on the Diva-Roha MEMU lists Kalamboli, Panvel and Somatne in that order on the Diva to Apta to Roha route. PMC’s development plan says rail lines converge at Panvel, going towards Goa in the south and Vasai in the northwest. Check the current timetable for what runs there today.
Long-distance and Konkan-bound trains
Raigad district’s How to reach page (last updated 17 May 2018) names Panvel among the nearest stations for main-line Indian Railways services. The airport operator’s transport page says Panvel Junction serves as a major hub for national rail services. PIB’s release of 3 December 2025 also writes Panvel Junction.
The 19 September 2026 notice announced Madgaon Jn.-Panvel and Panvel-Madgaon special trains 01112 and 01113 for the Ganpati festival, on dated Sundays and Mondays in September, and those dates have passed. The 27 September 2026 notice lists Panvel among the halts of 01463 and 01464 (Lokmanya Tilak to Thiruvananthapuram North and back, weekly, 15 October to 21 November 2026) and 01179 and 01180 (Lokmanya Tilak to Madgaon and back, weekly). It gives no Panvel timings and sends readers to enquiry.indianrail.gov.in. Check NTES or IRCTC for your date.
Panvel to Karjat
Central Railway’s release of 29 December 2025 listed the 29.6 km Panvel-Karjat suburban corridor as under execution, with a December 2025 target. A UNI report of 22 September 2026 said work was nearly 99 per cent complete and local services were likely around Diwali, subject to approval by the Commissioner of Railway Safety. No start date is given in these reports, so check Central Railway before planning around it.
| If you want to go to | What the timetables show | Check |
|---|---|---|
| CSMT or Wadala Road | Harbour line trains from Panvel | Your train’s destination and stops |
| Goregaon and the Western line | Panvel-Goregaon trains in the Harbour files | Whether the train stops at your station |
| Thane | Thane-Panvel (TPL) trains in the Trans-Harbour file | The 2024 edition date, and your train’s stops |
| Uran | No Panvel row in the Port Line file | Reach Belapur or Nerul first, then follow the Mumbai local train guide |
| Madgaon or the Konkan | Dated special trains named in Konkan Railway notices | NTES or IRCTC for your date |
Platforms, tickets and ladies coaches
No Central Railway page cited in this guide gives Panvel’s platform count. A Press Information Bureau release of 2 April 2026 lists works to raise train-handling capacity in the Mumbai area, including “Panvel-Kalamboli: 5 platforms, 4 pit lines and 2 sick lines”. It does not say which are at Panvel station or whether they are finished, so this guide states no count. Platforms for a train can change, so follow the indicators.
Indian Railways’ PIB release of 18 March 2026 says the RailOne app combines reserved, unreserved and platform ticketing with train and PNR enquiry, in addition to counters. The Mumbai local train guide covers season passes and what news reports say about the UTS app. For long-distance bookings, the same PIB release names IRCTC’s website and app.
Central Railway’s timetable notes mark some trains with a $ sign. On the Harbour line it means 3 coaches at the CSMT end are reserved for ladies, and on the Trans-Harbour line it means 3 coaches at the Thane end. The local train guide says every rake carries compartments reserved for women.
Getting to and from Panvel station
Buses. The airport operator’s transport page says NMMT buses connect the airport with Kharkopar, Targhar, Belapur, Nerul, Khandeshwar and Panvel railway stations. PMC’s development plan says there is one main ST bus stand in the PMC area, which also serves buses of other transport undertakings including NMMT, and that MSRTC buses run from it to major cities in the region and state. It adds that there is an NMMT depot in the PMC area. MSRTC’s bus stand contact list has a Panvel bus station entry. The NMMT bus routes guide explains how to check a route in the NMMT app.
Autos. PMC’s plan says sharing of auto rickshaws is popular for travelling to the nearest railway or bus station. Its survey found auto trips common around the stations except Panvel, where settlements are farther away. Fares are in the auto-rickshaw and taxi fares guide.
Roads. Raigad district says the Sion-Panvel Expressway connects the district to Mumbai and that the Mumbai-Pune Expressway passes through Panvel. PMC’s plan flags the junction at FBB and Big Bazaar Square near the station as already over its limit and asks for a skywalk on Old Panvel Station Road to link the bus stand and the station. It also says there is one rail overbridge between eastern and western Panvel. Tolls are in the toll plazas guide, and the Navi Mumbai to Pune road guide covers the expressway.
Metro. There is no operating Navi Mumbai Metro station at Panvel. CIDCO’s metro page lists Line 1 from Belapur to Pendhar (11 stations) and shows Khandeshwar to Taloja MIDC and Khandeshwar to the airport as later phases. It names no Panvel station. See the Navi Mumbai Metro route map guide.
The airport. The operator’s transport page names Panvel and Targhar as the nearest suburban stations, using the words “expected to be”. No train or metro enters the terminal. Compare stations in the nearest railway station to the airport guide, and see the Navi Mumbai airport guide and how to reach the airport guide.
Parking and station facilities
Parking charges and capacity at Panvel are not stated on the Central Railway pages cited here. PMC’s plan names a “Junction near Panvel Railway Station East Parking”, so a parking area exists on the east side, and Central Railway’s accessibility page says parking space is earmarked for divyangjan passengers at stations. Ask at the site for the current rate and hours.
PIB’s release of 3 December 2025 lists Panvel Junction among the stations identified under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in Maharashtra, and Central Railway’s passenger amenities document (September 2026) lists Panvel among its 80 nominated stations. Neither says what work is planned or done.
The same document gives a mobile number, 8655884048, for Panvel (NSG-1) in its list of nominated disability inspectors, working in two shifts from 7 hrs to 23 hrs. Central Railway’s divyangjan page says stations have ramps, low-height ticket counters and wheelchairs. Its table of battery-operated carts does not list Panvel. The pages cited here do not list a cloakroom, retiring room, lift or escalator for Panvel. Ask at the enquiry counter.
Nearby places and errands
Panvel’s market, offices and civic services are in Old Panvel. PMC’s head office is on Swami Nityanand Road, opposite Gokhale Marriage Hall, Panvel 410206. The Panvel area guide covers civic offices, and the Panvel property rates guide covers housing. Karnala Bird Sanctuary is in Panvel taluka, 12 km from Panvel according to Raigad district’s forts page. See the Karnala Bird Sanctuary guide.
In the India Post directory extract, Panvel H.O is a delivery office and Panvel City S.O is listed as non-delivery, both with 410206. The PIN on an address follows its delivery post office, so confirm with India Post and see the area-wise PIN code guide. For other areas, see areas in Navi Mumbai.
