FYJC Admission Navi Mumbai: Process, Documents & Cutoffs

Education & Career

FYJC, or First Year Junior College, is admission to Class 11 in Maharashtra. Students from Navi Mumbai apply through the state’s centralised online portal, then confirm the seat at the college. This guide explains how the process works, what to keep ready, how to read the cut-off lists and how to build a sensible list of colleges.

Current status: on 22 October 2026 the official portal at mahafyjcadmissions.in still shows the Std. 11th Centralised Online Admission Process 2026-27 and carried no new announcements. Dates for the next cycle have not been published, so this guide describes the process and not a schedule. Check the portal’s announcements before you plan.

Rules, rounds and dates are set each year by the Directorate of Education. The portal and its information booklet are the final word. This is an independent guide and is not run by any government body.

Who this process covers

  • Students who have passed Class 10 from any recognised board and want a seat in a junior college affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board, according to the portal’s FAQ.
  • Offline applications are not accepted. Online registration is compulsory.
  • Schools that follow CBSE, ICSE or another board for Class 11 admit through their own process, not this portal.
  • Vocational and some other streams may follow separate arrangements, so read the booklet for your stream.

The portal handles the central application and the seat allotment. Quota admissions and the final formalities at the college come after that, as the stages below explain.

The stages of admission

Stage What you need to understand
Central application Register online, pay the registration fee, fill the application in two parts, enter your Class 10 marks and list your preferred colleges.
Verification Your form is verified through your school or a guidance centre before it counts. Lock and verify the form as the portal directs.
CAP allotment Seats are allotted in rounds by merit and your preferences. An allotment is an offer. Read the portal’s instructions on what to do next.
Quota admission In-house, management and minority quotas have their own procedures, and the portal says an online application is needed for these too.
College confirmation Take your documents to the college, pay the fees and complete any form the college asks for. Original documents are checked in person.

Application steps

  • Open the portal and choose Student Registration. Fill the details and create a password. Your login ID comes by SMS.
  • Pay the registration fee online. The portal’s FAQ gives ₹100, payable by net banking, card, UPI or a digital wallet. Offline payment is not accepted.
  • Fill Part 1 (educational details) and Part 2 (college preferences and quota options), then lock and verify the form.
  • Before your verification, you can correct the application with the Unlock Form option or through a guidance centre.
  • Repeat the lock step before each round you want to take part in.

Choosing colleges from Navi Mumbai

The portal has a Search Colleges page and a Cut-off List page. Use them to build a short list from the colleges within your reach, instead of relying on a ranking from a website.

  • On Search Colleges, check the stream, medium of instruction, subject combinations and whether the division is aided or unaided.
  • On the Cut-off List page, compare like with like: the same year, round, stream, category or quota and division. A single percentage labelled as a college’s cut-off does not tell you much.
  • Treat last year’s cut-off as a guide, not a promise. Cut-offs move with the number of applicants and the marks scored that year.
  • Test the commute at the hour you would travel. The Mumbai local train guide and the NMMT bus guide help with routes.
  • Ask the college about fees and facilities on its own page or at its office, rather than relying on directory listings.

Building your preference list

You can list between 1 and 10 junior colleges, according to the portal’s FAQ. You do not have to fill every slot.

  • Rank colleges in the order you really prefer them, because the allotment follows that order.
  • Include only colleges you would be willing to join. If you are allotted a seat, think carefully before turning it down.
  • Mix a few ambitious choices with colleges where your marks clearly clear the previous cut-off, and do not treat any of them as guaranteed.
  • Check the stream, the medium, the fees and the journey for each one before you lock the list.
  • Read the portal’s rules on locking the form and on what happens if you do not take the allotted seat.

Documents to keep ready

The portal lists the Class 10 marksheet and the school leaving certificate for everyone, and reservation or special category certificates where they apply, as set out in Chapter 6 of the information booklet. Keep separate sets for registration, for verification and for the final confirmation at the college, and follow the booklet for each.

Applicant situation What to keep ready
All applicants Class 10 marksheet, school leaving certificate, identity details and photographs as the portal asks.
Reserved category The caste or category certificate named in the booklet. See the domicile, caste and income certificate guide and the caste validity certificate guide.
Non-creamy layer The certificate and its validity period as the booklet states. See the non-creamy layer certificate guide.
EWS The EWS certificate. See the EWS certificate guide.
Other board Enter your Class 10 marks carefully, lock and verify the form. If the marksheet shows only grades, get them converted to marks with your school’s help and enter the converted marks.
ATKT after Class 10 See the ATKT note below. Check the portal for when you can apply.
Quota applicant Whatever the institution asks for in addition, and an online application for the quota too.

The portal sometimes posts stage-specific notices, for example for students who passed earlier or who may submit certain originals later. Read the current announcements, because such notices apply to that stage and are not permanent exemptions.

Rounds and allotment

The portal’s FAQ says there are three regular rounds, followed by a fourth round open to all and a fifth special round for girls. It also says a student can take part in every round until a seat is secured, as long as the application parts are locked before each round. Later special rounds can be announced after these, so do not treat the number of rounds as fixed.

Round Who it is for What to remember
Regular rounds (three) Registered and verified students Lock Part 1 and Part 2 before each round.
Open to all (fourth) Students still without a seat, as the portal states Seats that remain are open on the terms the portal announces.
Special round for girls (fifth) Girls, as the portal states Follow the portal’s instructions for that round.
Later special rounds As announced Watch the announcements, including for ATKT students.

Quotas and reservations

Think of the seats in three groups, and do not add their percentages together.

  • Category reservations: seats reserved for categories under the state rules. The percentages and the way they apply depend on the college type and the year, so read the booklet for the cycle you apply in.
  • Special provisions: seats for groups such as girls in the special round, persons with disabilities and affected persons. How these sit inside the central seat pool is set out in the booklet, not in a single percentage.
  • Institutional quotas: the portal lists in-house (10%), management (5%) and minority (50%, only in minority institutions). An online application is needed for these too.

ATKT students

The portal says the ATKT (Allowed to Keep Terms) concession applies to students of the State Board who failed in one or two subjects in Class 10. They are given provisional admission until they clear all Class 10 subjects, and are not offered it in other boards. Applications for such students open after the July supplementary results, usually after the first special round. A student who wants the science stream needs at least 40 per cent in science in Class 10. Read the portal for the current rule.

Help and next steps

The portal lists the helpline 8530955564 (9 am to 7 pm) and the email support@mahafyjcadmissions.in. For what comes after Class 11, see the coaching classes guide, the NEET and JEE coaching guide, the engineering colleges guide and, for scholarships, the MahaDBT scholarship guide.
