Navi Mumbai has a municipal library network run by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), a new Central Library planned in Sanpada, and privately run study rooms that charge for a seat. This guide compares them by what you need: a place to read or borrow, a seat to study for the day, or a long-term reserved seat. It gives the addresses and prices that are published, and marks what you need to confirm before you travel or pay.
Last checked 18 October 2026 against the NMMC library website, a Free Press Journal report of 15 August 2026 and the websites of the private operator named below. Hours, fees and seat rules change, so confirm them with the place before you go.
Which option suits you
| If you want | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Books to read or borrow near home | An NMMC branch in your area | NMMC lists its libraries and study centres across Vashi, Nerul, Belapur, Airoli, Ghansoli, Koparkhairane, Turbhe, Digha and other areas. Borrowing depends on the branch and your membership |
| A place to study with your own material | The Vashi Vishnudas Bhave library, a branch named as a study centre, or a paid study room | NMMC’s library guide describes a study section for students and a reading room for citizens at the Vashi library. Whether you can bring your own books or a laptop is not stated, so ask |
| A reserved seat and long hours | A private study room | Some operators offer reserved-seat plans. Check the plan, the access hours and the refund terms |
| E-books and a digital catalogue | The Vashi Vishnudas Bhave library | NMMC lists a digital catalogue, e-books and online membership for it, and UPSC and MPSC e-book index pages on its site |
Libraries in Vashi
Vashi is where NMMC’s library network is run from, so it has the most published detail.
- Vishnudas Bhave Natyagruha Library. NMMC describes it as its first fully digitised library, with a digital catalogue, a self-service kiosk, e-books, online membership with a QR card and online fee payment. NMMC’s library information guide describes a study section for students and a reading room for citizens. The site shows 4,644 books, 430 active members and 250 or more daily visitors. A pre-opening report from October 2023 gave the room as 177 sq m with space for over 3,500 books and eight computers. A street address for the library is not given on the NMMC page, so ask the central office for the entrance and floor.
- Central office. Juhu-Vashi Road, opposite Vashi Bus Depot, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, Sector 16A, Vashi 400703. Phones: +91 99677 81820, 97692 80814 and 83693 08328. Email: nmmclibrary2@gmail.com. These are published in the site footer and may be for the central office, not each branch.
- Getting there. The central office is opposite the Vashi bus depot. For the station and local transport, see our Vashi railway station guide.
NMMC libraries and study centres
NMMC says 34 libraries and study centres are running, with two more proposed, and lists about 31 of them by name. It states opening hours of Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 10 pm, and that membership is open to all Navi Mumbai residents. A single timing is shown for the network, so confirm it with your branch and ask about Sundays and holidays.

The names without a published address are best checked by phone. The site also says a competitive exam training centre is proposed.
Membership and fees
NMMC publishes no fee amounts, deposit or document list for membership. The website links a member dashboard guide, a five-page walk-through of the online membership card, membership details, borrowing history and catalogue search. It is not an application checklist or a fee schedule. Ask the library to confirm membership charges, deposits, required documents and borrowing eligibility before applying. For other municipal services online, see our NMMC online services guide.
Sanpada Central Library
Status: public access to the Sanpada Central Library was not confirmed as of 18 October 2026. Earlier reporting described a planned opening, and NMMC’s library site lists Sanpada as coming soon. Confirm walk-in access, membership and available facilities before travelling.
The building is on Plot 1, Sector 11, Sanpada, and the Free Press Journal reported on 15 August 2026 that it was likely to open that month. The plan includes reading sections on two floors with about 120 seats between them, a 25-seat e-library, a Braille section, competitive exam classrooms and EV charging. Treat these as design figures, not as what you can use today. For the area, see our Sanpada area guide.
Private study rooms
Private study rooms charge for a seat, usually by day, month or longer. The operator below publishes branch pages with addresses and facilities, and price charts. Two branches of one operator are a starting shortlist and not a comparison between providers.
| Branch | Address as published | Facilities the operator lists |
|---|---|---|
| Readitorium Kharghar | 1001, 10th Floor, The Pacific, Plot 229, Sector 13, Kharghar 410210 | Air conditioning, sound proofing, reserved seat booking, Wi-Fi, charging points, CCTV, washrooms, a cafe or meals area |
| Readitorium New Panvel | Plot 12, 1st Floor, Road 16, Sector 19, New Panvel East 410206 | Same list. Its gallery shows both AC and non-AC study areas |
Not every seat or plan has air conditioning, and its charts mention a 10 per cent discount on non-AC seats. Confirm the access hours and facilities attached to your chosen seat or plan. The contact page gives Monday to Saturday, 8 am to 8 pm beside the phone number, and the price charts give working hours of 8 am to 11 pm, so published enquiry hours may differ from study-room access hours. Phone and WhatsApp: 8108931689. For the area around the New Panvel branch, see our Panvel area guide and Panvel railway station guide, and for Kharghar our Kharghar area guide.

The rates below come from the charts on the operator’s pricing page. The charts carry no date and rates may have changed, so confirm them before you pay. The Kharghar chart says its prices include 18 per cent GST. The New Panvel chart does not say whether GST is included.

Preparing for exams
A library or study room can support independent preparation, online learning or revision alongside classes. Choose a space around your study hours, travel time, noise tolerance and your need for books, Wi-Fi or charging points. Our coaching classes guide and NEET and JEE coaching guide are optional related reading if you are also comparing classes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which libraries and study spaces are available in Vashi?
NMMC’s Vishnudas Bhave Natyagruha Library in Vashi has a digital catalogue, e-books and online membership, and NMMC’s guide describes a student study section and a reading room. NMMC’s central library office is on Juhu-Vashi Road opposite the Vashi bus depot. Call the office to confirm the entrance and the study section hours.
Can I bring my own books and laptop to an NMMC library?
The NMMC pages do not state a rule for personal books or laptops. Ask the branch before you go, and ask whether charging points are available.
Can I use an NMMC library without borrowing books?
NMMC describes reading rooms and a study section, but does not state whether entry needs a membership. Ask the library whether reading and study access is separate from borrowing.
Is a fixed seat included in an NMMC library membership?
NMMC does not say. Most branches do not publish seating details, so ask the branch whether seats are reserved or first come, first served.
Are any study rooms in Navi Mumbai open 24 hours?
The private operator named here publishes working hours of 8 am to 11 pm on its price charts. NMMC states 9 am to 10 pm, Monday to Saturday, for its libraries. Ask any other place you find for its written access hours.
Are there free study spaces?
NMMC does not publish its membership fees, so this page cannot say whether any branch is free to use. Ask the central office, and ask each branch whether reading room access is charged.
How many libraries and study centres does NMMC list?
NMMC’s library website states 34 libraries and study centres running and two more proposed, as read on 18 October 2026. This is NMMC’s own network and not a count of every library or study room in the wider region.
Where is the Sanpada Central Library and can I use it?
It is on Plot 1, Sector 11, Sanpada. Public access was not confirmed as of 18 October 2026, so confirm walk-in access, membership and facilities with NMMC before travelling.
