Navi Mumbai to Goa: Train, Flight, Bus and Road Options Compared

Transport & Commute

Navi Mumbai to Goa is a long trip of roughly 560 to 600 km by road, and the best way to do it depends on where you start in Navi Mumbai and where in Goa you are staying. Panvel is the Navi Mumbai rail hub for Konkan trains, flights now leave from Navi Mumbai International Airport, buses pick up at several stops, and the coastal highway is still being finished in parts. This guide compares the four options on the same footing, shows what each one leaves out, and lists what to check on your own travel date.

Details read on 18 October 2026 from Konkan Railway notices, airline announcements and road reports. Train times, flight schedules, fares and road conditions change, so check them for your own date on IRCTC, the airline, the bus operator and a live map.

By train from Panvel

Konkan-bound trains from Mumbai call at Panvel, which is the most practical station for most of Navi Mumbai. Our Panvel railway station guide covers the station itself, and the Panvel area guide covers the area.

Train Numbers Panvel halt What to check
CSMT to Madgaon Vande Bharat 22229 and 22230 Yes. Konkan Railway’s notice lists the halts as Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Khed, Ratnagiri, Kankavali and Thivim Running days and the timetable in force for your date. The notice gives separate monsoon and non-monsoon timings
Mandovi Express 10103 and 10104 Listed with a Panvel halt on timetable sites The Panvel time and running days on NTES

Jan Shatabdi 12051 and 12052 Listed with a Panvel halt on timetable sites The Panvel time and running days on NTES

Timetable sites disagree on times, so read the Panvel departure, the Goa arrival station, the running days and the timetable validity for your travel date on IRCTC or the National Train Enquiry System.

Monsoon timetable

Konkan Railway runs a separate monsoon timetable each year, with speed restrictions on the route. For 2026 it applies from 15 June to 20 October, according to a Free Press Journal report of 12 June 2026, and trains take longer under it. The Vande Bharat notice shows the effect: Madgaon arrival at 15:30 on the monsoon schedule against 13:10 otherwise. Whatever your date, check which timetable applies to it and read the times again for that timetable.

Special trains

Konkan Railway announces seasonal and festival specials, and some list Panvel as a halt. Check its current notices for your dates, since special trains run only on the dates stated.

Konkan Railway stops in Goa include Thivim and Karmali in the north and Madgaon in the south, so pick the station that matches where you are staying.

By flight from Navi Mumbai International Airport

Navi Mumbai International Airport began commercial operations on 25 December 2025. Akasa Air announced a daily non-stop to Goa from that date, with flight QP 1927 leaving Navi Mumbai at 17:40 and reaching Goa at 18:55, and QP 1928 returning in the afternoon, in its November 2025 release. IndiGo announced Navi Mumbai flights from the same date, with Mopa in North Goa among its destinations, as reported by Travel Trade Journal. Those are launch announcements. Whether the same flights run on your date, and which Goa airport your flight uses, is shown only in the booking itinerary, so check it for your date and read the airport code before you pay. Google Flights lists flights on the route.

Code Airport
NMI Navi Mumbai International Airport
GOX Manohar International Airport, Mopa, North Goa
GOI Goa International Airport, Dabolim

The airport decides your transfer. Mopa and Dabolim are far apart, so check the distance and the taxi or bus options from the airport to your hotel before you book. For how to reach the Ulwe airport and how it compares with Mumbai airport, see our comparison of Navi Mumbai and Mumbai airports and the nearest station to the airport guide.

By bus

Private sleeper and seater operators list Navi Mumbai pickup points such as Vashi, Sanpada, Nerul, Belapur, Kharghar and Panvel, but not every service serves every stop. Pick a specific service and read its booking page before you rely on any figure.

  • Use the boarding time shown for your selected Navi Mumbai stop. It may differ from the service’s departure time at its first stop.
  • Note the exact boarding landmark, the scheduled pickup time and the Goa drop point, which may be Panaji, Margao or Mapusa.
  • Check whether it is AC or non-AC, and sleeper or seater.
  • Read the fare for your travel date and the cancellation and luggage rules. Fares change with the season and with demand.
  • Ask how the operator handles a delay on the highway.

By road

Guides put the distance from Navi Mumbai to Goa at roughly 560 to 600 km by NH66, as a cab guide shows. A 2026 planning guide gives 11 to 13 hours via NH66 for a trip from South Mumbai to Panaji with two short breaks. Your own time depends on where you start, where in Goa you end, and the traffic: Mapusa, Margao and the beaches further out change the final distance. The inland route through Pune is longer for some starting points and shorter for others, so compare both on a live map for your own journey.

Road status. The coastal highway has been under construction for years. A Swarajya report of 4 July 2026 described deep potholes on the Panvel to Indapur stretch near Dolvi and rain damage near Parshuram Ghat in Chiplun. That describes July, not today, so check recent news and live traffic shortly before you leave. Start early, plan fuel and rest stops in daylight, and avoid driving tired.

North Goa or South Goa: plan your arrival

Your hotel’s actual location decides the most convenient arrival point. Check it on a map before you choose a station, airport or bus stop.

If you are staying in Good arrival points Notes
North Goa, such as the Mapusa and Calangute side Mopa airport, Thivim station, Mapusa bus stand Mopa is in North Goa. Thivim is a Konkan Railway halt on the north side
Panaji and central Goa Karmali station, Panaji Kadamba bus stand Karmali is the Konkan Railway halt for Old Goa and the Panaji side
South Goa, such as Colva, Benaulim and Palolem Madgaon station, Margao Kadamba bus stand, Dabolim airport Madgaon is the main railway station in South Goa. Check the airport on your ticket

Book the last leg early. For taxis from an airport or station, confirm the driver and the vehicle before you get in, agree or verify the fare, and check the pickup arrangements. Pre-paid counters and booked cabs make these checks easier.

How to choose

Your priority What to weigh
Shortest total journey Door-to-door time, including the trip to the airport or station, check-in and security, and the transfer in Goa
Lowest overall cost The ticket plus transfers at both ends, baggage charges and meals, not the fare alone
Overnight travel Arrival time and your accommodation’s check-in time
A family or group Seat or berth availability, luggage and the total cost for everyone
Driving yourself Driver fatigue, breaks and current road conditions

  • Confirm the bus boarding time for your own stop, the drop point and the cancellation rule.
  • For road trips, read recent news on NH66 and check the weather during the monsoon.
  • Keep a second option ready for festival weekends, when trains and buses fill early.
