Quick answer: three CIDCO bridges serving the eastern approach to Navi Mumbai International Airport were inaugurated on Sunday 25 October 2026. BR-4 and BR-5 cross the Gadhi River. SBR-9 is the stilt bridge with arms towards NH-4B, Khandeshwar railway station and the two river bridges. A Gadhi River link was reported open on 4 November, but that report did not say which ramps were carrying traffic. For a trip today, use the airport’s published directions.

Driving to the airport today?

This guide follows press reports of the 25 October 2026 event and the airport’s published pages. Opening details, tolls and routes can change, so check CIDCO and the airport before you plan a journey around a bridge. This guide is independent and is not affiliated with CIDCO. Which airport bridges were inaugurated?

At an event at Shirdhon, Panvel, on Sunday 25 October 2026, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, inaugurated CIDCO’s SBR-9, BR-4 and BR-5 bridges, according to reports of 25 and 26 October (see The News Mill and The Newsman of India). The Newsman of India lists a fourth project, the Uran Bypass Bridge, among the connectivity projects inaugurated.

The same event included a separate ground-breaking (bhoomipujan) for NAINA development works and the distribution of property cards to landowners. Those works are not the bridges. See our NAINA guide for the wider planning area.

A later report, Newsband on 4 November, said a new bridge over the Gadhi River has opened and improves eastern access to the airport. It does not say whether this is BR-4 or BR-5, which ramps vehicles are using, or when traffic began. 4 November is the report date, not necessarily the opening date.

Which routes do SBR-9, BR-4 and BR-5 connect?

Bridge What it connects Length
SBR-9 A stilt bridge with arms towards NH-4B, BR-4, BR-5 and Khandeshwar railway station 1,762.87 m
BR-4 Crosses the Gadhi River, reached by an SBR-9 arm 505 m
BR-5 Crosses the Gadhi River, reached by an SBR-9 arm 325 m

The Free Press Journal says the bridges are meant to give signal-free connectivity between the airport, the Ulwe Coastal Road, Atal Setu, Amra Marg and Belapur, with links to NH-4B for traffic from Pune, Panvel, Thane and Kalyan. That is the purpose of the bridge network. The reports do not promise an uninterrupted drive from any starting point, publish a travel time saving, or say the whole Ulwe Coastal Road is complete.

Engineering detail

  • SBR-9: 60 m wide. Arms of 260 m towards NH-4B, 620.20 m towards BR-4, 110.67 m towards BR-5 and 672 m towards Khandeshwar railway station. A central rotary 100 m across.
  • BR-4: 60 m wide with a 54 m carriageway.
  • BR-5: 60 m wide with a 46 m carriageway.

An arm pointing towards Khandeshwar railway station is useful for orientation. It does not establish a direct road, walking route or shuttle from the station to the terminal. The airport’s transport page lists NMMT buses connecting the airport with Kharkopar, Targhar, Belapur, Nerul, Khandeshwar and Panvel stations. See our nearest railway station guide.

What is still unconfirmed

  • Which individual ramps drivers can use today, and whether the whole onward route is signal-free.
  • Tolls: no separate bridge toll has been verified in the reports. Charges on other parts of a journey, such as Atal Setu, are separate. See the Atal Setu toll guide.
  • Cost and completion of the wider road works. The reports do not give a cost for each bridge.
