Navi Mumbai Traffic: Contacts, Diversions and Complaints

Transport & Commute

Palm Beach Road photographed in July 2015. Archival image, not a live view of traffic conditions.

Use this guide to find Navi Mumbai Police contacts, check diversion notices, resolve e-challan issues and report road hazards. It is an evergreen reference, not a live traffic feed. Check current notices before travelling.

Quick answer: in an emergency call 112. For a traffic query, the police website lists a 24×7 traffic helpline. Before you travel, check current notices that affect your route. For a wrong challan, use the grievance option on the official e-challan portal. Report a road defect to the authority responsible for maintaining that road or asset.

Contact numbers

For immediate danger, call 112 rather than waiting for a WhatsApp response or an online form. The numbers below are published on the Navi Mumbai Police contact page and its initiatives page. Contact details were checked against the Navi Mumbai Police website on 15 October 2026. Telephone availability was not tested.

Contact Published number
Emergency 112
Traffic helpline, described on the police website as 24×7 for traffic queries 7738393839
Police Control Room 112, 022 2757 2298 or 022 2757 4928
WhatsApp contacts listed by the police 8424820686 and 8424820665, published contacts with no response time stated
Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic 022 2756 2288
Office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic 022 2757 6286 or 8655354143

The Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner numbers are office contacts, not an emergency dispatch line. The Commissionerate is at Sector 10, near CBI Colony, CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai 400614, and you can find your own station on the nearest police station page.

Checking traffic restrictions

Before travelling, check current notices affecting your route. Read the applicable dates, hours, direction of travel and vehicle restrictions, and check for later revisions.

Need Recommended route
Official restrictions Police notices and official accounts linked from the Navi Mumbai Police website
Estimated congestion A live navigation app
Event access and parking The organiser’s advisory, checked against police restrictions
Immediate danger 112

A missing online notice does not establish that a road is open. Follow current signs, barriers and police directions.

Check in a notice Why it matters
Issuing authority and publication date Helps identify the relevant notice
Effective dates and hours Prevents you using an expired restriction
Exact road and direction A restriction may affect only one approach
Vehicle categories A restriction may not apply to every vehicle
Entry, parking or stopping rules These are different restrictions
Alternative route Shows the stated diversion
Later amendment or cancellation The first notice may have changed

Use live maps for estimated congestion and route planning. Follow current signs, barriers and police directions if they differ from the app. Set the route before driving, or stop safely before checking an update. A navigation app does not confirm lawful access, and not every suggested shortcut suits every vehicle.

Reporting an obstruction or hazard

Situation Appropriate first step
Injury, immediate danger or an emergency Call 112
Active obstruction or a dangerous traffic condition Contact the police control room, and use 112 where there is immediate danger
Routine traffic complaint or query Use the traffic helpline, the Commissionerate’s complaints page or your nearest police station
Complaint about police conduct Use the appropriate police grievance channel and keep the acknowledgement

Do not rely on an online complaint form when you need immediate help. An online complaint submission is not confirmation that assistance has been dispatched.

If a road defect creates immediate danger, report the hazard to the police as well as the maintaining authority. Give the exact location and direction of travel. A repair complaint should not replace an emergency call when someone is at risk.

Road maintenance complaints

Report a road defect to the authority responsible for maintaining that road or asset. NMMC and Panvel Municipal Corporation handle their respective municipal assets, and other roads may have a different responsible agency.

Asset or issue Where to report
NMMC maintained road or civic asset The NMMC citizen services portal. Our NMMC online services guide explains how to file a complaint
Panvel Municipal Corporation asset The PMC grievance portal
PWD maintained road The Public Works Department’s grievance page, which lists its pothole complaint system for PWD roads
Ownership unclear Use the municipal route for your address, give the exact location and ask the receiving authority to identify the maintaining agency

Do not assume which agency owns a particular road without checking. Our civic problems guide covers other civic assets and how to escalate a complaint.

If you have a traffic fine

Open the official Maharashtra e-challan portal directly. Check the vehicle and challan details before paying, and do not enter payment details through an unverified message link. For an incorrect challan or a payment issue, use the portal’s grievance option and keep the challan number, payment reference and acknowledgement. Our e-challan guide explains the steps in detail.

Make a complaint actionable

Photograph or record details only from a safe position. Do not stop in a traffic lane to collect evidence. For a maintenance complaint, say whether the problem is on the main carriageway, a service road, the footpath, a drain or a streetlight, because “near my building” may not identify the asset.

You can copy this format into a complaint:

  • Location: road, junction, landmark and map pin
  • Direction: towards which destination
  • Observed: date and time
  • Issue: obstruction, damaged asset or other problem
  • Immediate risk: who or what is affected
  • Evidence: a photograph taken from a safe position, if available
  • Previous reference: complaint number, if following up

Keep the acknowledgement or reference number and a record of your follow up.

Compare your journey options

Compare the complete journey, including walking, waiting, interchanges, last mile travel, parking, tolls and the return trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who manages traffic in Navi Mumbai?

The Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate has a traffic unit. Its contact page lists offices for a Deputy Commissioner of Police for Traffic and an Assistant Commissioner of Police for Traffic, with their numbers.

Is there a traffic helpline number?

The Navi Mumbai Police website describes a traffic helpline, 7738393839, as available 24×7 for traffic queries. Its availability was not tested. In an emergency, call 112 and do not wait for a helpline, a WhatsApp reply or an online complaint form.

How do I check for traffic diversions?

Before travelling, check current notices affecting your route on the Navi Mumbai Police website. Read the dates, hours, direction of travel and vehicle restrictions, and check for later revisions. A missing online notice does not establish that a road is open, so follow current signs, barriers and police directions.

What should I do if a challan is wrong or a payment is not reflected?

Use the grievance option on the official Maharashtra e-challan portal, and keep the challan number, payment reference and acknowledgement. Open the portal independently and do not use a payment link from an unverified message.

Who should I contact about a pothole or a broken street light?

Report it to the authority responsible for maintaining that road or asset: NMMC or Panvel Municipal Corporation for their municipal assets, or the Public Works Department for roads it maintains. If ownership is unclear, give the exact location and ask the receiving authority to identify the responsible department. If it creates immediate danger, tell the police too.

I am organising an event. Does a loudspeaker application cover the road?

No. Check the applicable permissions separately. A loudspeaker application does not establish approval for road occupation, a procession or a traffic diversion.
