Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai: Area Guide

City Guide & Travel

Ghansoli is an area in the northern part of Navi Mumbai, with its own station on the Trans-Harbour railway line between Rabale and Koparkhairane. NMMC lists it as its F ward, and CIDCO lists it as the second of 13 entries on its nodal plan index. It is not served by the operating Navi Mumbai Metro line, so the train is the rail link. For the wider city, see what is Navi Mumbai and the areas in Navi Mumbai guide.

Who runs Ghansoli: NMMC, CIDCO and the district

NMMC’s history page (in Marathi) says CIDCO developed CBD Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Sanpada, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli and Airoli, that NMMC was set up on 1 January 1992, and that from 1 January 1998 the areas CIDCO had developed were handed over to the corporation in stages. NMMC runs eight ward offices. Its ward office page lists Ghansoli as the F ward, with Koparkhairane as E, Airoli as G and Digha as H. Panvel Municipal Corporation covers Kharghar, Kamothe and Kalamboli, not Ghansoli.

A ward name is an administrative label, and a ward office’s address does not tell you which ward your own address falls in. Confirm the office that serves your building.

Office Address as listed by NMMC Contact as listed
F ward office Ghansoli Village main road, near NMMC water tank, Navi Mumbai 400708 amc_ghansoli_ward@nmmc.gov.in, 8976954886

That row is from NMMC’s ward office page as of 9 October 2026. Walk-in hours are not shown there, so phone or email before you go.

For the district, the Thane district portal (a Marathi page last updated on 14 January 2026) lists NMMC second among the six municipal corporations in Thane district. For a sale deed, land record or court filing, use the district printed on your own documents.

CIDCO’s nodal plan index lists 13 nodes, and “Ghansoli Node” (in Marathi) is the second. Rabale, Seawoods, Juinagar, Turbhe and Digha are not entries on that index, so treat them as area, village or station names. CIDCO’s development plan page names six northern towns in its running text and does not name Ghansoli, so use the nodal plan index for CIDCO’s own listing.

Who to check for what

The current property-tax bill identifies the billing authority. Water supply, building permissions, CIDCO lease matters and revenue records may require separate checks.

Matter What decides it Where to check
Property-tax billing The current assessment and the body that issues the bill Your latest tax bill. See the NMMC property tax guide
Ward-level civic issues The ward office that serves your address The F ward office above, after confirming it covers your address
Water The supplier shown on your connection or bill The bill itself. See the NMMC water bill guide
CIDCO allotment, lease or transfer CIDCO records for the plot or flat The relevant CIDCO office. See the CIDCO flat transfer charges guide
Revenue records Village, survey details and revenue jurisdiction The property documents and the district revenue offices
Building approval The authority named on the approval documents The documents themselves, then that authority

PIN codes depend on the address. NMMC prints 400708 on the F ward office address, the Navi Mumbai PIN codes guide lists the Ghansoli sub post office under 400701, and CapitaLand’s listing for a Ghansoli business park gives 400710. Use the PIN printed on your own address documents, and confirm it with India Post.

How to get to Ghansoli

By train

Ghansoli station is on the Trans-Harbour line, which runs from Thane towards Vashi, Nerul and Panvel. Reading from Thane, Central Railway’s current Trans Harbour timetable (effective 13 January 2024) lists the stations in this order: Digha, Airoli, Rabale, Ghansoli, Koparkhairane and Turbhe, after which trains go on to Vashi, Nerul or Panvel. It shows them by station code, and Central Railway’s older Trans Harbour file spells out the names (it writes Koparkhairne). Central Railway’s Harbour line timetable effective 1 May 2026 does not list Ghansoli, so a train from Mumbai CSMT on the Harbour line does not call here.

In practice: pick a Trans-Harbour service that calls at Ghansoli, check its destination before boarding (Central Railway’s abbreviations list shows trains as Thane to Vashi, Thane to Nerul or Thane to Panvel), and plan the last leg from the station to your building, office or ward office as a separate step. Central Railway’s Mumbai Suburban timetable page links the current files and is the place to check timings. The Mumbai local train guide explains the lines and where to find live updates.

Metro

Ghansoli is not served by the operating Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1, which runs between Belapur and Pendhar. A Free Press Journal report of 10 July 2026 describes it as running, and CIDCO’s metro page (in Marathi) names the line and does not name Ghansoli. For Ghansoli, check Trans-Harbour trains and NMMT buses. Future metro proposals are separate from what operates today, and the Navi Mumbai Metro route map guide keeps the two apart.

By bus

NMMT runs the buses in Navi Mumbai, and an NMMC news item of 5 October 2026 mentions a Ghansoli depot of its transport undertaking. The NMMT bus routes guide covers routes, timings and fares. No route numbers or fares are printed here because they change.

By road and to the airport

CIDCO’s Ghansoli nodal plan (a PDF) labels Thane Belapur Road along the eastern edge of the area, with a “To Panvel” arrow on it and the railway beside it. The plan is indicative, so use a current map to choose your entrance. For the Navi Mumbai airport, see the Navi Mumbai airport guide, the how to reach the airport guide and the nearest railway station guide.

What CIDCO’s plan shows for Ghansoli

CIDCO’s Ghansoli nodal plan is a layout map headed “Node: Ghansoli”. It marks the existing village of Ghansoli near the middle of the area, the villages of Gothivali and Rabale (with its gaothan) towards the north, and Thane Belapur Road and the railway along the east. It also marks open spaces labelled Central Park, near the south-eastern corner, and Recreational Open Space, a large plot labelled “NMMC Sports Complex”, plots for schools, colleges, a hospital and a market, a plot labelled NOCIL, and several drainage channels.

These are plan labels, not a list of what is open today. CIDCO’s notes on the sheet say it is not a legal document, that plot, sector and boundary lines are indicative and subject to change, and that several parts are marked “layout being finalised”. A label shows what CIDCO planned or reserved, not whether a facility exists, is open to the public or has set hours. For a specific park, school or sports facility, ask NMMC.

The western side of the plan is marked “Mangroves area transferred to Forest Dept”, and the legend shows a Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary boundary. Do not enter mangrove habitat, fenced land or restricted areas. For a designated visitor facility or public route, follow the managing authority’s access rules. The Airoli area guide covers the Mangrove Cell’s visitor centre in the next area north.

Services and civic matters

NMMC’s website lists its helplines as 1800 222 309, 1800 222 310 and +91 8291920504. Its home page links to complaints, water supply, property tax and other services. Ward-level matters go to the F ward office above. For how-to guides, see the NMMC online services guide.

Business parks and offices

Aurum Q Parc is one business development in Ghansoli, listed by CapitaLand on Thane-Belapur Road. See CapitaLand’s property page. Confirm the exact building, entrance and your employer’s reporting address before planning your commute, and test the route at your shift hours. An address on a company or landlord page does not confirm vacancies, interviews or where you will be asked to report. The IT companies and tech parks guide lists employers and addresses across Navi Mumbai.

Living in Ghansoli

Ghansoli decisions mostly come down to a few checks. CIDCO’s plan puts the station and Thane Belapur Road on the eastern edge and the old village near the middle, so test the walk for your own address. Do not treat nearby names as interchangeable with Ghansoli. NMMC lists Koparkhairane, Airoli and Digha as separate wards, and Rabale is its own station. Use the full address and test the actual station entrance and walking route.

Decision What to compare
Access to Ghansoli station The walk or ride from the building to the station entrance, and the destination of the trains you would take.
Access to Rabale station Whether Rabale station is easier to reach from a particular address than Ghansoli station, using the actual route.
Route to an office entrance Your actual office entrance, the shift time and the last-mile transport at both ends, not just the area name.
Road crossings and last-mile access The roads and crossings you would use on foot or by auto, and how you would get from the station to the door at your usual hours.
Everyday services Groceries, a pharmacy, a clinic and the school gate, timed from the building.
Building-level water, parking and maintenance Water arrangements, parking, lifts, power backup and maintenance, asked of the building itself.

For dated property prices, see the Navi Mumbai property rates guide. The best areas to live in Navi Mumbai guide compares areas by commute.

Neighbouring areas have their own guides: Airoli to the north in the Airoli area guide and Koparkhairane to the south in the Koparkhairane area guide. Rabale lies between Airoli and Ghansoli and is a separate station on the line.
