Quick answer: Dronagiri is one of CIDCO’s nodes in southern Navi Mumbai, in Uran taluka of Raigad district. It has its own station, Dronagiri, on Central Railway’s Port Line between Nhave Sheva and Uran. By road, the main route is State Highway 54. No Navi Mumbai Metro line serves it. JNPT, the port next door, is a separate, secured working port with no public walk-in access. Identify the assessing local body from the property record and current demand notice, and confirm the account directly with that authority before paying. Water supply, planning permission, CIDCO lease matters and revenue records may each need separate checks.
For the wider city, see what is Navi Mumbai and the areas in Navi Mumbai guide. For prices, see the Dronagiri property rates guide. This page covers how to reach Dronagiri, where it sits and who to check for what.

How to reach Dronagiri
By rail
Dronagiri has its own station on Central Railway’s Port Line. Central Railway’s Mumbai suburban timetable page links a Port Line public timetable effective 15 December 2025, headed Nerul/Belapur to Uran. Dronagiri is the second last station, after Nhave Sheva and before Uran. That edition lists 25 trains in each direction.
The station names in the timetable are not a promise that every train passes through every listed origin and interchange in order. Nerul and Belapur are alternative origins, not two stops on one train: each train starts or ends at one of them, never both. Going towards Navi Mumbai, the stops after Dronagiri are Nhave Sheva, Shematikhar, Gavhan, Kharkopar, Bamandongri and Targhar. Select the actual Uran-bound service you plan to take, and check where it starts and ends.
In practice, choose a train that stops at Dronagiri, confirm where it starts or ends, and plan the last leg from the station to your address as a separate step. The timetable gives station names only, so check a current map for the station closest to your address. The station is one point in a node that CIDCO’s structure plan shows across several villages and sectors, so Dronagiri station is not the whole node. Central Railway writes Nhave Sheva and Gavhan, while JNPA’s pages write Nhava Sheva. The Navi Mumbai local train guide covers the Harbour, Trans-Harbour and Uran lines.
By road
The main road is State Highway 54, which CIDCO’s structure plan labels along the node. JNPA’s road access page describes SH 54 as the state highway stretch that connects Uran to Panvel, with container yards along it and most of its traffic due to the port. Expect goods vehicles, and test the route at the hours you would travel. Pick your route by where you start:
| Route | What the official pages say |
|---|---|
| State Highway 54 | Connects Uran to Panvel, per JNPA’s road page. JNPA’s SEZ page names it NH 348A (old SH-54) and says it abuts the SEZ and connects to Navi Mumbai. |
| Uran-Sheva Road | Labelled on CIDCO’s structure plan beside the node. |
| Aamra Marg | JNPA’s road page says it begins on the Sion Panvel highway, runs through Belapur, Nerul and Ulwa (JNPA’s spelling) and ends on SH 54. Useful from the Belapur and Nerul side. |
| NH 348 (old NH-4B) | JNPA’s SEZ page says it connects the port to the Sion-Panvel highway, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and NH 4. JNPA’s road page uses the older name NH 4B. It is the corridor around the port, not directions to a Dronagiri address. |
| Atal Setu | MMRDA’s sea link, also called the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link. MMRDA’s project page says it opened to traffic on 13 January 2024, and its details page lists interchanges at Sewri, Shivaji Nagar and Chirle. JNPA’s SEZ page places the Chirle interchange 2 km from the SEZ. See the Atal Setu toll guide for tolls and rules, and the toll plazas guide for other tolled entries. |
By metro and bus
Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 runs between Belapur and Pendhar, per CIDCO’s metro page (in Marathi), and does not serve Dronagiri. The Navi Mumbai Metro route map guide covers the planned lines. For buses, see the NMMT bus routes guide, and check NMMT’s current route list before you plan around a bus to Uran or Dronagiri.
By air
For a flight, go to the passenger terminal named by your airline, then plan the road or rail leg from your own address. See the Navi Mumbai airport flights guide and the how to reach the airport guide.
Dronagiri and JNPT
JNPT is the common name of Jawaharlal Nehru Port, run by the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA). JNPA’s overview page describes the port as being in Navi Mumbai, and the administrative office address on its contact page reads Sheva, Uran, Raigad. That is an office address, not a visitor entrance. On CIDCO’s structure plan the legend marks the “JNPT area (outside node)”, and the map labels a J.N.P.T township and the Uran-Sheva Road beside the node.
The JNPT port guide describes JNPT as a secured working port, not a sightseeing spot, and says public walk-in access is not available. Approved visits are arranged through JNPA or the host, with the applicable entry permission. JNPA’s contact page lists a helpline, 1800 22 8282, with timings of 8 AM to 8 PM. The cargo and logistics guide covers how cargo moves.
Where Dronagiri sits: district, taluka and civic matters
A notice on the Raigad district website, listed from 15 April 2024, is headed as a classified list of unauthorized religious places at the “Uran Dronagiri node of Uran taluka”. The notice is about religious structures, not boundaries, but its heading places the node in Uran taluka of Raigad district. For a sale deed, land record or court filing, use the district and taluka printed on your own documents.
CIDCO’s development plan page (in Marathi) names Dronagiri among seven southern nodes. It says the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation now exists in the north and the Panvel Municipal Corporation in the south, without saying which covers Dronagiri. Panvel Municipal Corporation’s history page lists the CIDCO colonies in its area as Taloja, Kharghar, Kalamboli, Kamothe and New Panvel. The Raigad district website lists the Uran Municipal Council for Uran.
The structure plan labels several villages in and around the node, so municipal sources alone do not settle who looks after a given property. Identify the assessing local body from the property record and current demand notice. Confirm the account directly with that authority before paying. Water supply, CIDCO lease matters, revenue records and planning permission may each have a different responsible body. Use this table:
| Matter | What establishes the responsible body | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| Property-tax billing | The assessing local body, identified from the property record and current demand notice | The record and notice for your property, then that authority directly before you pay |
| Municipal or village-level civic services | Current jurisdiction for the revenue village and the property | The revenue village named in your property papers, then the local body or village office it points to |
| CIDCO lease or transfer | Allotment or lease papers and the CIDCO office | CIDCO’s contact numbers page lists a divisional officer for Ulwe and Dronagiri and prints no phone number for that post. For flat transfers, see the CIDCO flat transfer charges guide |
| Water supply | The actual supplier, shown by connection or bill records | The bill itself. If CIDCO supplies it, see the CIDCO water bill guide and ask the CIDCO office whether it applies to your address |
| Revenue records | Village, survey details and the revenue office | The Raigad district administration. Its website lists the Uran Tahasil Office as “Near Uran Police Station, Tahasil-Uran, District-Raigad”, with no phone number printed |
| Planning permission | The planning authority applicable to the plot | The approval or permission documents for the plot, then that authority |
Dronagiri in CIDCO’s plan
CIDCO’s nodal-plan index (in Marathi) lists the Dronagiri node as entry 12 of its 13 entries. Its structure plan of Dronagiri is a map. Its notes say the plan is not a legal document, that roads, services and plots shown are indicative, and that CIDCO has powers to change land uses. Use it to understand the layout, and ask CIDCO about a plot.
What CIDCO’s structure plan shows
The map labels the villages Funde, Pagote, Bokadvira and Navghar, a CIDCO housing complex, a CIDCO nodal office and fire station, a school, a CISF complex, station forecourts, and plots named for BPCL, MSEB and several warehousing companies. A hospital, an engineering college and an area reserved for a metro rail depot appear as proposed. The plan supports planned land uses and labels, not current on-ground completion, so these labels are not a list of what exists today.
Living in Dronagiri: a local viewing checklist
Visit the actual building and its surroundings, at the hours you would travel, and check these before you decide.
| Check | What to look at |
|---|---|
| Last-mile station access | The route from the building entrance to Dronagiri station, the alternatives at Nhave Sheva and Uran, and how you would cover the last stretch at both ends. Check your onward connection too. |
| Neighbouring buildings | Which nearby buildings are occupied and which are unfinished or empty, which affects lighting, security and noise. |
| Water arrangements | Who supplies the water, how it reaches the building, and what the connection or bill records show. |
| Essential shops and services | The walk or ride from the building to groceries, a pharmacy, a clinic and the school gate. |
| Route to your workplace | The gate or campus entrance you will use and the route at your shift hours. JNPA says most traffic on State Highway 54 is port-related. Port, SEZ and warehouse gates have their own entry rules, so confirm them with your employer. |
| Building or plot papers | For a flat, lifts, power backup and maintenance. For a plot, its CIDCO status, since the node plan is indicative. |
For prices, see the Dronagiri property rates guide.
Nearby areas
Uran town has its own municipal council and is a separate unit from the Dronagiri node. Ulwe is a separate CIDCO node, placed in Panvel taluka by a Raigad notice, and CIDCO lists one divisional officer for both. See the Ulwe area guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Dronagiri and which district is it in?
Dronagiri is one of CIDCO’s nodes in southern Navi Mumbai, in Uran taluka of Raigad district. A Raigad district notice refers to the “Uran Dronagiri node of Uran taluka”. For legal papers, use the district and taluka printed on your own documents.
Is Dronagiri part of Navi Mumbai?
It is part of CIDCO’s Navi Mumbai plan. It is entry 12 of 13 on CIDCO’s nodal-plan index and one of seven southern nodes on CIDCO’s development plan page. A planning node is not the same as a civic boundary, so check the property record and current demand notice for the assessing body.
Which civic body looks after Dronagiri?
Identify the assessing local body from the property record and current demand notice, and confirm the account directly with that authority before paying. Water supply, CIDCO lease matters, revenue records and planning permission may each have a different responsible body. CIDCO’s development plan page says Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation covers the north and Panvel Municipal Corporation the south, without naming the body for Dronagiri.
Is there a railway station at Dronagiri?
Yes. Central Railway’s Port Line timetable effective 15 December 2025 lists a station named Dronagiri, between Nhave Sheva and Uran. The station is one point in a node that spans several villages and sectors, and the timetable does not say which address it is nearest to, so check a current map.
Which trains stop at Dronagiri?
In the timetable effective 15 December 2025, each of the 25 trains in each direction shows a time at Dronagiri. Nerul and Belapur are alternative origins, not two stops on one train, so select the actual Uran-bound service and check where it starts and ends.
How do I reach Dronagiri by road?
The main road is State Highway 54, which CIDCO’s plan labels along the node. From Mumbai, MMRDA’s Atal Setu has interchanges at Sewri, Shivaji Nagar and Chirle. See the Atal Setu toll guide for tolls and rules.
Is there a metro to Dronagiri?
No. Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 runs between Belapur and Pendhar and does not serve Dronagiri. The Navi Mumbai Metro route map guide covers the planned lines.
Is Dronagiri the same as JNPT or Nhava Sheva?
No. JNPT, also called Nhava Sheva, is a port at Sheva in Uran taluka run by JNPA. Dronagiri is a CIDCO node, and CIDCO’s plan marks the JNPT area as outside it. Central Railway lists Nhave Sheva and Dronagiri as separate stations.
Can I visit JNPT from Dronagiri?
Public walk-in access to the port is not available. Approved visits are arranged through JNPA or the host, with the applicable entry permission. JNPA’s contact page lists a helpline, 1800 22 8282, with timings of 8 AM to 8 PM.
Who do I contact at CIDCO about Dronagiri?
CIDCO’s contact numbers page lists one divisional officer for Ulwe and Dronagiri, but prints no phone number for that post. Contact the relevant CIDCO office for CIDCO matters, and check your bills to see who handles tax and water.
