Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai: Area Guide

City Guide & Travel

Kalamboli is a planned township in the southern part of Navi Mumbai. People also use the name for a road junction, a railway station and a steel market. This page separates the four and points to the official page for each. For the wider city, see what is Navi Mumbai and the areas in Navi Mumbai guide.

Quick answer: Kalamboli is entry 9 of 13 on CIDCO’s nodal-plan index. Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) covers it, not NMMC. PMC’s History page names Kalamboli among the CIDCO colonies inside its area, within Panvel taluka of Raigad district. Central Railway’s station list has a station named Kalamboli, but the suburban timetables do not list it, so check that your train stops there. Navi Mumbai Metro does not serve Kalamboli. The Mumbai-Pune Expressway meets the local road network at Kalamboli Junction. Prices are in the Kalamboli property rates guide, not here.

Who looks after what in Kalamboli

The current property-tax bill identifies the billing authority. Water supply, building permissions, CIDCO lease matters and revenue records may require separate checks. PMC’s ward page prints the Ward B address as “Kalamboli” and gives no street address or boundary, so it does not tell you which ward a given building falls in.

Matter What decides it Where to check
Property-tax billing The authority on your latest bill The bill, then PMC’s portal. The Panvel property tax guide covers searching and paying.
Ward services and complaints PMC Ward B, if PMC confirms your building is in it The Ward B office, contacts below.
Water The supplier shown on your connection or bill The bill itself.
CIDCO lease, transfer or NOC CIDCO records CIDCO’s contact numbers page (in Marathi) lists a divisional officer for Panvel and Kalamboli but prints no phone number. See the CIDCO flat transfer guide.

What “Kalamboli” can mean

A listing, a form or a road sign may use the word for any of these.

  • The node. CIDCO’s planned township. CIDCO’s development plan page (in Marathi) names Kalamboli among seven southern towns and says PMC now covers the south while NMMC covers the north.
  • The village settlement. CIDCO’s Kalamboli structure plan marks a “Kalamboli Gaothan” inside the node.
  • The junction. MSRDC’s diagram marks Kalamboli Junction. PMC’s draft plan also names Kalamboli Circle and Kalamboli Bridge Chowk.
  • The station and the market yard. Both are covered below.
  • Roadpali. PMC’s draft plan lists Roadpali and Kalamboli as separate village or area names. A listing may use either label, and the label alone does not name a civic body.

How to get to Kalamboli

By train

Central Railway’s Mumbai Division station list includes Kalamboli (KLMC), Navde Road, Taloja Panchanand and Panvel. Its Mumbai Suburban timetable page links Main Line, Harbour, Trans-Harbour and Port Line files. Kalamboli does not appear in any of them, while the Harbour Line files list Panvel, Khandeshwar and Mansarovar. A local-train timetable therefore will not show trains at Kalamboli.

Option What to check Source
Kalamboli station (KLMC) Central Railway’s station list includes it, but the suburban timetable files do not list it. Which trains stop is specific to each train, so check that train’s stopping list and running days on Indian Railways. A train that passes through Kalamboli may not stop there. Station list and timetable page
Harbour Line stations: Panvel, Khandeshwar, Mansarovar Listed in the Harbour Line timetable files effective 1 May 2026. Compare the walking or auto route from your exact Kalamboli or Roadpali address to each, at the hour you would travel. Timetable page and PMC’s draft plan
Panvel for longer-distance trains The airport operator describes Panvel Junction as a major hub for national rail services. Confirm that your specific train stops at Panvel and from which platform; passing through is not the same as stopping. Airport operator’s transport page

No official page says which station suits which part of Kalamboli. Plan the last leg from your building to the station separately, and test it at your usual travel time. The Mumbai local train guide explains the suburban lines.

By metro

Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 runs between Belapur and Pendhar and has no station at Kalamboli. The Navi Mumbai Metro route map guide keeps operating lines apart from proposals. Treat anything beyond Line 1 as a plan, not a service.

By road

The Mumbai-Pune Expressway, officially the Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway, runs through Roadpali, Kalamboli and Asudgaon and meets NH 48, according to PMC’s draft development plan. An MSRDC presentation hosted by the Maharashtra Transport Department marks Kalamboli Junction at the Mumbai end of the expressway and NH-4 alignment. Documents number the national highway differently, NH 4 in some and NH 48 in others, so find the road by its name and follow current signs and a live map for the number.

PMC’s draft development plan identified Kalamboli Bridge Chowk, Kalamboli Circle and Roadpali Junction as accident black spots in its transport assessment. The same assessment says Kalamboli has the only truck terminal in the area and that trucks park along NH 4 and the Sion Panvel highway. That is a planning study for the draft plan, not a live traffic report, so check live traffic before you leave. For Pune, see the Navi Mumbai to Pune road guide, toll plazas guide and Navi Mumbai to Pune bus guide.

By bus and to the airport

NMMT routes are in the NMMT bus routes guide. CIDCO’s structure plan marks a bus depot plot in the node, but as an indicative label, not a route list or boarding point. Confirm with the operator which service calls at your stop. For the airport, see the FAQ below and the how to reach the airport guide.

What Kalamboli is known for

A planned CIDCO node. CIDCO’s structure plan is a drawing dated 8 July 2008. It labels plots for police headquarters and housing, a sports complex, hospitals, a bus depot, a lake, holding ponds, a marble market and a proposed truck parking plot. Its notes say locations are indicative and the uses shown are not statutory reservations. Read it as the intended layout, not as a list of what stands there today.

The iron and steel market. PMC’s draft development plan, which is still marked a draft, has a section on it. As the draft states it, the wholesale iron and steel market moved to the Kalamboli market yard from 1989 to decongest South Mumbai, the yard was built on CIDCO plots, MMRDA is the governing body, and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Iron and Steel Market Committee looks after day-to-day affairs. PMC’s Environmental Status Report 2024-25 describes Kalamboli and the NH4 area as home to warehouses, a marble and tile market and a complex of iron and steel markets. It is a working trade yard, not a visitor attraction. For yard rules, plots or licences, ask the market committee or MMRDA.

Warehousing and freight. PMC’s draft plan places major warehousing along NH 4, Kalamboli and the Taloja MIDC area. The cargo and logistics guide and JNPT port guide cover how goods reach and leave the region.

Living in Kalamboli

Most Kalamboli decisions come down to a few checks. Use the full address, not just the area name, and test the journeys at the hours you would actually travel.

Decision What to compare
Rail access Walking and auto time from the building to Kalamboli station, to Khandeshwar and to Panvel, and whether the trains you need stop there.
Road commute The approach to Kalamboli Circle and the expressway junction at your travel hour, and how much heavy goods traffic you meet.
Noise and surroundings Visit a road-facing or market-side flat at peak and off-peak hours and note what you see and hear.
Everyday services Time the trip to groceries, a pharmacy, a clinic and the school gate.
Building and tenure CIDCO lease or transfer status, occupancy documents, water arrangements, lifts, power backup and maintenance dues.

Comparing a Kalamboli or Roadpali listing

  • Get the full sector and plot address as written in the property documents, not just the locality label.
  • Check station and highway access from that exact building, using the table above and a live map.
  • Locate the actual building on a map, because Kalamboli and Roadpali labels do not show where it stands.
  • Ask whether a price source groups Roadpali and Kalamboli together before comparing its figure with a listing. The Kalamboli property rates guide explains how.
  • Take the civic body from the property-tax bill, not from the locality label.

For occupancy papers see the occupancy certificate guide, and for CIDCO schemes that include Kalamboli sites see the CIDCO lottery guide. Neighbouring areas have their own pages: Panvel area guide, Kamothe area guide and Taloja area guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Kalamboli part of Navi Mumbai?

Yes. It is a CIDCO node, entry 9 of 13 on CIDCO’s nodal-plan index. For civic purposes it falls under Panvel Municipal Corporation, not NMMC, and PMC’s History page lists the Kalamboli colony among the CIDCO colonies in its area.

Which civic body runs Kalamboli?

Panvel Municipal Corporation. Its ward offices page lists Ward B with the address Kalamboli. The ward page gives no boundary, so confirm with PMC which ward your building is in, and check your latest property-tax bill for the billing authority.

Which district is Kalamboli in?

Raigad district, Panvel taluka. PMC’s History page describes its area as 29 revenue villages of Panvel taluka including the Kalamboli colony, and the Transport Department lists the Kalamboli RTO address as Tal. Panvel, Dist. Raigad. For legal papers, use the district printed on your own documents.

Is there a railway station at Kalamboli?

Yes. Central Railway’s station list includes Kalamboli, code KLMC. It does not appear in the Main Line, Harbour, Trans-Harbour or Port Line suburban timetable files, so check each train’s stopping list on Indian Railways. For the suburban Harbour Line, compare Panvel, Khandeshwar and Mansarovar from your address.

Does Kalamboli have a metro station?

No. Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 runs between Belapur and Pendhar. Later corridors are plans, not services, and the Metro route map guide keeps the two apart.

What is Kalamboli Junction?

It is where the Mumbai-Pune Expressway meets the NH-4 alignment, as marked in an MSRDC presentation hosted by the Maharashtra Transport Department. PMC’s draft plan says the expressway passes through Roadpali, Kalamboli and Asudgaon and meets NH 48. Documents number the highway differently, so follow current signs.

What is the Kalamboli steel market?

It is a wholesale iron and steel market yard. PMC’s draft development plan says it moved to Kalamboli from 1989, stands on CIDCO plots, is governed by MMRDA and is run day to day by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Iron and Steel Market Committee. It is a trade yard, not a visitor attraction, so ask the committee or MMRDA about access and rules.

Who do I call about a civic problem in Kalamboli?

Call the PMC helpline on 022-27458040, 41 or 42, or toll free on 1800-227701. For Ward B, the ward page lists 022-27458040 and 9322351897. For fire, PMC lists Kalamboli Fire Station on 022 27420137 and 022 27420138.

Which PIN code does Kalamboli use?

It depends on the address. Use the PIN printed on your own documents or on a postal item addressed to the building, and confirm it with India Post if a form rejects it. The area-wise PIN code guide covers Navi Mumbai areas side by side.

What should I check when travelling from Kalamboli to Navi Mumbai International Airport?

Four things. Terminal: your airline names the passenger terminal, so confirm it before you leave. Road route: PMC’s draft plan describes State Highway 548 as the link between NH 48 and the airport, so check a live map for your exact route. Traffic: allow a buffer and check live traffic for your departure time, since trucks use the nearby highways. Last mile: the airport operator names Panvel and Targhar as the expected nearest suburban stations and lists NMMT bus links and app cabs, so plan that leg separately. More in the Navi Mumbai airport guide.
