Places of Worship in Navi Mumbai: Temples, Churches and Visiting Checks

City Guide & Travel

Planning a visit to a place of worship in Navi Mumbai? Start with the exact institution and location, then check its current visiting hours, worship schedule and visitor arrangements.

This guide covers selected temples and churches with identifiable institutional sources, alongside checks for finding mosque, gurdwara and other community information. It is not a complete directory, and missing entries do not imply that a place is closed or does not exist.

Navi Mumbai is organised into planned nodes and numbered sectors rather than the older neighbourhood names many directories still use, and more than one place of worship can share a similar-sounding name across different nodes. That is part of why earlier versions of guides like this one have placed institutions in the wrong sector or confused one Balaji temple with another. Getting the exact plot and sector right, from the institution’s own source, matters more here than in areas with fewer overlapping names.

Temples

Sri Balaji Mandir, Nerul West

The identifiable institution matching this name is Sri Balaji Mandir at Plot 2 and 3, Sector 22, Nerul West, also known through its associated Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha Sabha. This corrects an earlier version of this guide that placed a Balaji Mandir in Kharghar near the central market. That correction concerns this article’s earlier misidentification; it does not mean no Balaji temple exists in Kharghar at all.

Check the temple’s own pages for current visiting hours, aarti timings and any festival arrangements before you travel. This guide does not carry forward the earlier claims about Metro access, fixed aarti times, wheelchair access, parking or a daily community kitchen, since none of those were confirmed against an institutional source during this review.

ISKCON Kharghar

ISKCON Kharghar is located at Hare Krishna Land, Sector 23, opposite the golf course. Its own published schedule, checked on the verification date below, lists the temple as opening at 4:15 am and closing at 9 pm, with an afternoon closure from 1 pm to 4 pm. This is the institution’s stated schedule rather than a guarantee of uninterrupted access, so confirm it directly if you are planning around the closure or a specific event.

The same schedule lists Mangala aarti at 4:30 am and Shayana aarti at 8:30 pm. If you are looking for the temple’s restaurant, its own materials refer to it as Govinda’s. Check the current route to the temple yourself rather than relying on a fixed walking time from any station, since that claim was not independently verified for this guide.

Churches

Our Lady of the Visitation Church, Nerul

Our Lady of the Visitation Church is listed at Plot 3, Sector 42A, Nerul. This replaces an earlier, unsupported entry for “Our Lady of Good Counsel, Nerul” in this guide; it is not a rename of that entry, but a separately verified institution.

The church’s own contact page also lists a parish office at a different address with its own office hours. Do not mistake the office location or its hours for the church building or its worship schedule; confirm which one you need before visiting. This guide does not carry forward earlier claims about the building’s age, architecture, parking or fixed Mass times, since none of those were confirmed against the parish’s current information.

St Joseph’s Church, Airoli

St Joseph’s Church is confirmed at Plot 7, Sector 10, Airoli. The Archeparchy of Kalyan identifies it as a Syro-Malabar Catholic parish, which matters for readers trying to confirm they have the right institution and the right liturgy. Its published information lists Sunday Holy Qurbana at 8 am; confirm current weekday timings and any recent changes directly with the parish before visiting.

This entry does not repeat earlier comparisons with the Nerul church above, and does not carry forward unconfirmed claims about parking or a community kitchen.

Finding a Mosque, Not a Directory

Locality names alone, such as Kharghar or Vashi, do not identify a specific mosque, and this guide does not attempt to list one. Before visiting, confirm directly with the mosque or a current local notice:

  • The mosque’s full name and exact location.
  • Its current prayer and congregation timetable.
  • Friday prayer arrangements, since a general prayer-time window and a particular congregation’s starting time are different things.
  • Visitor access and any separate facilities.
  • Contact details from the institution itself or a current local notice.

No operator-confirmed mosque timetable was established for this guide. That is a limit on what we could verify, not a finding that Kharghar, Vashi or any other node lacks mosques, and this guide does not assume every mosque observes the same celebrations or admits visitors the same way.

A citywide prayer-time table, of the kind published for entire regions, tells you roughly when a given prayer window falls that day. It does not tell you when a specific congregation actually begins, how a particular mosque handles Friday prayers, or whether it has separate arrangements for visitors. Treat the two as different questions and confirm the second one locally.

A Gurdwara Lead Worth Checking

A specialist gurdwara directory lists Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Sector 9A, Vashi. Confirm the current address and visiting arrangements directly before travelling.

The directory itself asks readers to contact the gurdwara rather than the listing for any details, so treat this as a lead rather than a verified opening-hours, langar or accessibility source. If you visit, remember that langar is a community meal offered as part of the gurdwara’s practice, not a free-food attraction.

Visiting Checklist

  1. Confirm the institution’s full name, locality and entrance.
  2. Separate general visiting hours from worship or service times.
  3. Check afternoon closures and festival arrangements.
  4. Ask about visitor participation and any restricted areas.
  5. Confirm dress, footwear, head-covering and photography rules.
  6. Ask specifically about steps, ramps, seating and accessible toilets.
  7. Check the actual transport route and parking arrangements.
  8. Confirm any meal, booking, donation or payment arrangements directly.

These checks help you plan a specific visit. They are not a claim that every institution admits visitors to every area, or that any one arrangement applies everywhere.

Festival dates and special visiting arrangements vary by year and institution. Check the relevant institution’s current announcement before planning a visit.

A festival observed at one temple or church is not necessarily observed the same way, or on the same date, at another institution of the same faith. If you are exploring the wider area around a visit, our guide to things to do in Navi Mumbai covers other places worth combining with a trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Sri Balaji Mandir identified here is in Sector 22, Nerul West. Check the institution’s current directions and visiting schedule before travelling.

Does ISKCON Kharghar remain open throughout the afternoon?

Its published schedule includes a closure from 1 pm to 4 pm. Check the official schedule and any special announcements before your visit.

Which Nerul church is listed in this guide?

Our Lady of the Visitation Church is listed at Plot 3, Sector 42A, Nerul. Its church and office addresses are different, so check which location you need.

Can I use one prayer timetable for every mosque in Navi Mumbai?

Do not assume a general prayer timetable gives a particular mosque’s congregation times. Check the mosque’s current timetable, especially for Friday prayers.

Can visitors attend every service or enter every area?

Visitor arrangements differ by institution, service and area. Ask the institution about attendance and participation rather than assuming unrestricted access.

Are all these places wheelchair accessible?

Accessibility has not been confirmed for every entry. Ask about the route from the entrance, steps, ramps, lifts, seating and accessible toilets before travelling.

Is photography allowed inside places of worship?

Check the institution’s rules and ask before photographing worship, interiors or other visitors. Permission to enter does not automatically include permission to take photographs.

Where should I check festival dates and special visiting hours?

Use the institution’s current announcements or contact it directly. Check both the festival date and any changes to entry, worship times or visiting arrangements.

Sources and Verification

Sources checked on 28 September 2026. This guide uses published institutional information and clearly identified directory material. We did not inspect the venues or confirm every facility, service or visitor arrangement in person.

Where an institution’s own website could not be retrieved directly during this check, we corroborated its name and location through independent directory listings before including it, and noted that limitation above rather than presenting the entry as fully institution-verified. Entries removed from an earlier version of this guide for insufficient identification, including a purported cave-temple excursion and several generically located temple cards, are not reproduced here; that does not mean the underlying places do not exist, only that we could not confirm which specific institution a reader would find at the description given.
