Kharghar railway station is on the Harbour line of Central Railway in Navi Mumbai. Belapur CBD is the station before it towards Mumbai and Mansarovar is the next one towards Panvel. Central Railway’s station list gives it the code KHAG. Harbour line locals stop here, and so do the Thane to Panvel trains of the Trans-Harbour line. For the area itself, see the Kharghar area guide.
Quick answer: Take a Harbour line train marked for Panvel, or a Thane to Panvel train, and check that Kharghar is on its stopping list. Trains that end at Belapur CBD or Nerul do not come this far. Do not confuse Kharghar with Kharkopar or Targhar, which are stations on the Port Line to Uran. Central Railway’s pages do not give a platform count or a parking arrangement for Kharghar, so confirm both at the station.

Which trains stop at Kharghar
Harbour line trains
Kharghar is a stop on the Harbour line between Belapur CBD and Mansarovar. Central Railway’s Mumbai Suburban timetable page links the CSMT to Goregaon to Panvel timetable and the Panvel to Goregaon to CSMT timetable, both shown as effective 1 May 2026. Each train is a column of times, with stations down the left. The station order from Vashi is Sanpada, Juinagar, Nerul, Seawood Darave Karave, Belapur CBD, Kharghar, Mansarovar, Khandeshwar and Panvel. Central Railway also publishes a separate AC services timetable for the Harbour line, effective 1 May 2026, and its station rows include Kharghar.
Not every Harbour train comes this far. The train code at the top of each column tells you where it runs. The abbreviations sheet explains the codes, and the table below picks the ones that matter at Kharghar.
| Code | What the sheet says it is | Does it pass Kharghar? |
|---|---|---|
| PL | Panvel Local | Yes, it runs to Panvel. The timetable shows Kharghar times for PL trains. |
| GN, PLGN | Goregaon Local, Panvel to Goregaon Local | Yes, on the Panvel to Goregaon trains. The Panvel to CSMT timetable shows Kharghar times for GN trains. |
| PLVD, VPL | Panvel to Vadala Local, Vashi to Panvel Local | Yes, both name Panvel as an end point. |
| BRPL | Belapur to Panvel Local | Yes, it runs from Belapur to Panvel. |
| TPL | Thane to Panvel Local | Yes. See the Trans-Harbour section below. |
| BR, BRVD | Belapur CBD Local, Belapur to Vadala Local | No. These end at Belapur CBD, the station before Kharghar. |
| V, TV, TNU | Vashi Local, Thane to Vashi Local, Thane to Nerul Local | No. These end at Vashi or Nerul. |
A column with Kharghar times and a code that names Panvel is the one you want. Use the timetable to pick a train, then confirm live running in RailOne, which Indian Railways’ press release of 18 March 2026 says carries train enquiry, or in NTES.
Trans-Harbour trains from Thane
Central Railway’s Trans-Harbour timetable covers Thane to Vashi and Panvel. It shows Thane, Digha Gaon, Airoli, Rabale, Ghansoli, Koparkhairane and Turbhe in that order. Trains coded TPL carry on beyond Turbhe through Juinagar, Nerul, Seawood Darave Karave, Belapur CBD, Kharghar, Mansarovar and Khandeshwar to Panvel. Trains coded TV end at Vashi and trains coded TNU end at Nerul. Neither reaches Kharghar. The file is shown as effective 13 January 2024, older than the Harbour line files, so check the Central Railway page for a newer edition.
If you live in Kharghar and work in Airoli or Ghansoli, look for a TPL train. A Thane to Vashi train leaves you short. The Mumbai local train guide lays out which line suits which trip.
Ladies coaches
The abbreviations sheet states that on the Harbour line, trains marked with a dollar sign at the CSMT end have three coaches reserved for ladies. On the Trans-Harbour line the same mark applies at the Thane end. Read the mark on the train you plan to take. The Mumbai local train guide covers ladies compartments and special trains.
For long-distance travel, Raigad district’s How to reach page names Panvel as a nearest station for the main lines of Indian Railways. The timetables here are suburban ones, so plan to board at Panvel. See the Panvel area guide.
Do not mix up Kharghar, Kharkopar and Targhar
The names look alike, and cab and meeting-point mistakes follow. Central Railway’s Port Line timetable, shown as effective 15 December 2025, runs from Nerul or Belapur to Uran. It lists Targhar, Bamandongri, Kharkopar, Gavhan, Shematikhar, Nhave Sheva and Dronagiri on the way. Kharghar is not on it.
| Station | Line | Position |
|---|---|---|
| Kharghar | Harbour line, and Thane to Panvel Trans-Harbour trains | Between Belapur CBD and Mansarovar |
| Kharkopar | Port Line | Between Bamandongri and Gavhan on the Uran corridor |
| Targhar | Port Line | The first stop after Belapur on the Uran corridor |
If your train is a Port Line train, you will not reach Kharghar on it. Change at Belapur CBD or Nerul to a Harbour line train towards Panvel. The CBD Belapur area guide covers the interchange end.
Platforms, facilities and parking
Central Railway’s timetables, station list and amenities sheet do not state how many platforms Kharghar has, and they do not describe the station building. Timetables show trains, not platforms. Ask at the station, or look at the platform numbers on the display boards when you arrive.
The nearest thing to a facilities list is Central Railway’s Mumbai Division passenger amenities sheet, dated December 2024 and linked from its amenities page. It is a table of counts for taps, seats, platform shelter, urinals, lavatories, foot overbridges and station clocks, and it shows Kharghar with a station clock and no waiting hall. It has no column for a cloakroom, retiring room, lifts, escalators or parking, so it cannot tell you about those. Confirm any such facility at the station before you plan around it.
CIDCO, which built the station, says in its 2026-27 budget statement that it made provision for cleaning, sweeping and sanitation at Kharghar, Mansarovar and Khandeshwar stations, among others. Its railway section also lists revenue from Pay and Park and pay-and-use toilets across the corridors. The statement does not say whether Kharghar has a Pay and Park area, who runs it or what it charges. Ask at the station or write to CIDCO before you plan to leave a vehicle there for the day.
Central Railway’s Divyangjan facilities page lists wheelchairs at all stations, ramps at station building entrances and low-height ticket counters, among other items. Those are general statements for the railway, not a Kharghar list, and the page says lifts, escalators and ramped foot overbridges are part of the programme without naming stations. Ask the station staff before travelling with a wheelchair or a heavy bag.
Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 and the station
Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 runs between Belapur and Pendhar. CIDCO’s project page describes it as 11.10 km with 11 stations and one depot, and the budget statement says it started operating in November 2023. Kharghar sits on this line, so a Metro trip is possible for Kharghar’s inner sectors, Central Park and the Taloja end. The Navi Mumbai Metro route map guide lists the stations reported at opening, including Utsav Chowk, Kharghar Village and Central Park, and separates the line from the proposed ones.
How the Metro relates to Kharghar railway station needs care. CIDCO’s 2016 station table, kept in an archived copy of its website, lists CBD Belapur Terminal with the remark “Suburban Railway connectivity”. It also lists “Utsav Chowk, Kharghar Through Sky walk” with the same remark. That table is a planning-stage page and uses names that changed before the line opened. It does not say whether a covered walkway is open today, where it ends or how long the walk is. CIDCO’s current project page does not name stations or describe an interchange with the railway.
So treat the Metro and the railway as two separate journeys until you have seen the link yourself, and do not assume one ticket or one fare covers both. The Navi Mumbai Metro fare guide covers Metro fares and ticketing. Check the current position with CIDCO or at the station.
CIDCO’s budget statement describes Line 1A (Belapur to Sagar Sangam) and Line 2 (Pendhar to the airport) as proposals awaiting government sanction. They are not operating lines. For the new airport, see the nearest railway station to the airport guide.
Getting to and from Kharghar station
By road
Raigad district’s How to reach page says the district is connected to Mumbai by the Sion Panvel Expressway and that the Mumbai-Pune Expressway passes through Panvel. The Navi Mumbai to Pune road guide covers the Pune side. CIDCO’s budget statement also describes a proposed Kharghar-Belapur-Nerul Coastal Road as an alternative to the Sion-Panvel road. It is described as a plan, not an operating road, so check its status with CIDCO.
Central Railway’s pages do not describe station exits, forecourts or walking distances. CIDCO’s Kharghar Nodal Plan labels the railway station and, on the same sheet, the Reserve Bank of India, Bharati Vidyapeeth and Science Park. Its own notes say locations are indicative and for information only. Use a live map for your hour of travel.
By bus, auto, taxi and on foot
Kharghar sits in Panvel Municipal Corporation’s area. The NMMT bus routes guide says NMMT runs routes that connect stations, Kharghar among them, with the sectors around them, and reports an AC shuttle across Atal Setu connecting Kharghar to Mantralaya. The NMMT route list and its BusTracker app are where to confirm a route number, stop and fare. Routes change, so confirm before you rely on one.
Central Railway’s and CIDCO’s published pages do not describe an official auto-rickshaw or taxi stand arrangement at Kharghar station. Agree the fare or use the meter before you start, and give the exact sector, because Kharghar addresses run on sector and plot numbers. The Central Railway and CIDCO pages cited here give no walking time from the station, so test a walking route once in daylight. For the airport, see the how to reach the airport guide.
Tickets and passes
The Indian Railways press release of 18 March 2026 says the RailOne app combines reserved, unreserved and platform ticketing with train and PNR enquiry. The Mumbai local train guide summarises news reports that the older UTS app was replaced by RailOne from March 2026, and says season-pass details should be checked in the app or at a counter. Check the current rules for your journey before you buy.
Around the station
The area near the station is part of PMC Ward A. PMC’s ward-office directory lists the Ward A office with the address Kharghar and the landline 022-27458040. An office address does not tell you which ward a building falls in, so check your own tax bill for the billing authority. The Kharghar area guide sets out who handles what.
For a day out, the places to visit in Kharghar guide covers ISKCON, Central Park and the golf course, and notes why Kharghar Hills and Pandavkada Falls are not planned stops. Read the Pandavkada Falls guide before going near the falls. For places of worship, see the temples, churches and mosques guide. For flats near the station, see the Kharghar property rates guide. Mansarovar and Khandeshwar, the next stations towards Panvel, are in the Kamothe area guide. For the park itself, see the Central Park Kharghar guide.
